I have found a cat that i want to adopt..I have only owned female cats and i have a few questions. The adoption place said that the cat is older and is neutered. My BIGGEST concern about a male cat is him spraying in my house. This cat is a bigger cat and they said he is very lovable and loves to just hang out all day..
In the neighborhood there is a stray cat that comes around our house. Now this cat has been in our house last month while it was raining. But since then we havent had this cat in our home. He lingers around our house and our neighbors homes obviously looking for some food.
the cat i want to adpot can only be kept inside due to FIV
Is this going to be a problem? Will this trigger the cat i want to bring home to spray?

Ok, my cat had a litter before in July (all 5 kittens died due to lack of milk). She got pregent(PLEASE DO NOT MOAN ABOUT GETTING MY CAT SPAYED ! ) again and she had 5 kittens last night. We went up today and found that one had died. Is this a good thing because if she couldn't handle 5 kittens last time, she will have a better chance with four ? I'm not saying I wanted the kitten dead but I think it is better chance for her other kittens.

Well last week I got a 12 week old female kitten. She's playful, happy etc..
Well yesterday we got an 8 week old male kitten as a play mate. She hisses at him,
he hides and well I think its because I am always holding the little guy because he is so scared,
I still pet her and play with her but I think she is just so jealous of him! What can I do??
I tried letting her next to him but she just hisses at him. He wants to get next to her and say Hi and
smell her but she just wont allow it. maybe give it a few days? What can I do though, to try and get them to bond?

My girlfriend and I picked up a stray kitten yesterday, she had been crying all night outside the apartment, no mother in sight and she cant be more than 4-5 weeks old. I had read Borax in carpets etc wont hurt the animals but kill any eggs or dormant fleas, but what to use on the kitten itself?

well i live in an apartment where the landlord won't let me keep a cat. theres this orange tabby cat that looks old but keeps following me outside when i'm doing chores and keeps meowing. it followed me to my door and i fed it milk. (i don't know if that's the right thing) and it is always wanting to rub against my leg. i know it wants me to pet it, but my parents say that it may have a disease or fleas and i definetly can't touch it. I really want to pet it and feed it. Is it possible that i can pet this cat? It's been visiting me for a while now.

I have one cat in about a 10 x 10 room that he leaves only under supervision. The room has 1 door and 1 window, along with about a 5 x 3 closet attached. In the room are also 4 fish tanks of various sizes from a 1 gallon to a 90 gallon. Recently, I noticed that I was waking up with what looked like isolated pimples on various areas of my body, and small white salt-like grains on my sheets along with what looked like gold sesame seeds. After looking online, I realized these were tapeworm eggs and flea eggs! So, in my cramped room with lots of nooks and crannies and where my cat has been to just about every square inch of it, and with fish's lives to be considered, how would you guys recommend treating the infestation? I can treat the cat, that is easy enough, but to treat the room so he doesn't get re-infested I have no idea. I've heard of bombs and foggers and sprays but I don't want to put my fish at risk. Please give me ideas!

I'll make this short okay, my cat may be choking on some liquid, we were giving him some oil to help with constipation but when it hit his mouth he accidently flipped his head back, i think some of it went down his windpipe. Hes a little gurgly when breathing and hes breathing harder, no open mouth, nothing like that. Hes aware and awake. Hes a little shakey but he might just be cold.

Please do not tell me to take him to the vet, dont tell me bullshit answers, this is serious, how do i help the liquid come up

and BTW if it was serious enough to take him to the emerg, vet he would DIE BEFORE HE GOT THERE.

so dont give me this bullshit about taking hiim to the vet, now some\one pleas ehelp me!

will it keep them indoors? Will it stop their urge to roam around the neighborhood to look for mates?
I live in the Philippines and I have a lot of street cats (stray, mixed breed, unattractive cats). I've adopted them and have considered them my own. They're very special to me even if they're not as furry or cuddly or cute as the purebreds. They're not confined in our home though; there's a lot of openings for them to get out and roam. My worst fear is they'll get hit by cars sooner or later. (The street outside is not really a busy street, but cars do pass by sometimes.)

I have two cats. Previous to my boyfriend moving in, my cats had free reign.. I let them up onto the furniture. Well, my boyfriend came from a dog house and likes to lounge around on furniture more than I do, so we're trying to (gently) train my two 8 year old cats to stay off.

I have purchased them a carpeted cat playground (three levels to scratch and lay around, about as tall as a medium sized bookshelf) and a fairly comfy pet bed, and they used to use them both (I've had the cat playground for about three years and the pet bed for about a year) but have now decided they prefer the furniture.

We usually spray them with a water bottle when we catch them, and I've tried guiding them to the cat furniture, but nothing seems to be working. I have also tried organic stay off furniture spray, but it doesn't bother them. I prefer to stay organic and not use a lot of harsh chemicals in the house. Does anyone have any further suggestions?

I ask because I try to be a good mom to my 2 kitties. I especially fear for my older one who is 16. I recently noticed a growth on her lower front jaw. Wasn't sure what it was so I called the vet. They said to keep her NPO after 8pm and to bring her in the am. They were planning to clean the teeth under anesthesia and see what it was. While she was there I also pointed out a lump on her tail that has been bothering her. She has subaceous cysts (benign) all over but they are very small. This is much larger and sensitive.
Because she is older they had to do labs first which were perfect, : ) put her under anesthesia, clean the teeth, remove the growth in her mouth (possibility it is a carcinoma so I have to watch her mouth for more) and remove the area on her tail (inclusion cyst - benign). I was expecting a HUGE bill but All together only $215. It didn't matter either way, she's worth it.
So the moral is, check your kitties as you pet, brush, etc. them. Better to catch things early.

I was given two hamsters one is twice the size of the other...BIG! They are white and light brown with a bit of a color like cappucino mixed in, like a Calico cat without the black color. Unsure what to name them...suggestions. They are filling the void since my little Guinea Pig died a few years ago.

I have a twelve year old cat thats is a my mum's. You can see and feel every bone! She is sick almost dayly. Is constantly hungry, desperate for food. We have given her worming tablets. If she lost anymore weight she would dissapear! Is doesnt seem to have lost any more weight recently, but isnt putting any on. I half her meals, giving her them at Four intervals in the day instead of two bigger ones. Thinking that shes getting old and her stomach carnt take alot of food. (I hope this works) I have noticed she has a few small scabs on the back of her neck, I dont know if this is related. She has had alot of bad diarria. We have stopped giving her milk and the diarria has stopped. My mum is worried, kind of says 'its just old age.' Everyone is saying that and has put of going to the vet, because in the past when we have went to the vet, our pets dont come back! She is Ok other than the fact that she is very skinny, is sick one time aday, every other day and is always despearate for food.

my cat keeps peeing all over the house on rugs (mostly) and some furniture. we don't know how many times she has and we haven't caught her in the act yet. she is kind of high mantanice so we think it might be because the litter isn't always perfectly clean? she is fixed so it isn't spraying or whatever. she also has a history of going to the bathroom every where EXCEPT the litter box when shes lonely, but someones home every day except from 8:30-2:30. any suggestions on how to teach her to use the litter box again?

Is he just having a normal reaction to the shots? He had them about 24 hours ago, and about 12 hours after his shots he became lazy and didn't want to go anywhere. I checked his nose and it is dry. Plus he won't eat or drink, and when I try to carry him to the food he cries and wants to go back to bed. Is this normal reaction to shots? I bought him from the SPCA last year, so this is the first time I gave him shots that I know that something happened afterwords. Please help me. I will call the vet tomorrow when they are open, but am worried for him now!

My cat is overweight. I would like for him to lose at least 3-4 lbs (He weighs about 20-22 lbs/8 years old). Right now he eats about 1 1/2 cup Iams Hairball food a day. Along with that we give him about 3-5 tablespoons a day of tuna. I don't think the tuna is affecting his weight - do you?

Should we change his food; give him less?

Any suggestions at all is grealty appreciated.
