my son is 2 and he loves his cats. I actually have to worry more about the cat then the boy. If your son doesnt' have any alergies so far, he probobly will be fine, just watch for signs when you get the cat... When getting a cat, get one that is child friendly... and won't have a problem being petted... you also might want to look for a declawed cat and don't get a boy.... boys are very rough, we got ride of ours because of all the fights with territory... have your son help pick it out if possible.... if your son helps it might not be such a big change...

You won't know if your kid is allergic until you bring the cat home. Your cat should be fine around your 3 year old but make sure you teach the 3 year old to be gentle with the cat. Teach him what is appropriate and what is not.
You could try to bring your child to a pet shelter a few times and pet the cats and see if he develops allergies. That way you avoid bringing a cat home and having to find a new home if allergies do appear.

Definately safe, probably more so for the three year old than the kitten. Teach your child to be easy with the cat and show him/her how to pet the cat and hold it (if you want to allow that at first). Most cats are pretty laid back and will tolerate anything. Our biggest thing was making sure our little one didn't sqeeze the kitty too hard when she wanted to hold him.

yes it perfectly safe I have three children ages 18-25 and a four year old grandson and they all have had kitten from birth until now. right now i have to cats one 12 years old and one 6 mos. we got the six month old kitten for my grandson so he would not scare the older cat, the baby has asthma and we
haven't had any breathing problem with him. your problem would not be with the cat harming the baby, but with the baby harming the kitten because kids like to pull tails and ears just watch them and everything should be fine and funny. Good Luck.

it's perfectly safe.. For your child, that is.
as to whether it's safe for the cat.. PLEASE teach teach the child how to treat a cat, and she won't get scratched and the cat won't be terrified of her.
maybe have your child tested for allergy to cat before getting one. Having to give it away later is always sad. Cats who are passed around from home to home don't usually end up having very good lives. Eventually they end up in the pound, and probably the gas chamber, if they're not a cute little kitten anymore.
I have a 3 year old neice that lives around cats, and she's fine. She tends to chase them sometimes, which isn't good, but her parents are trying to stop that.

I would take the child around a friend's cat first, just to see if he or she has an alergic reaction, before having a cat around full time. But, I've had two cats ever since my son was born. He is two now, and we've never had a problem. Just make sure you teach your child how to handle (and how not to handle) an animal.

I bypass away my kitties residing house on my own alot while i bypass as much as my mountain place and that i make particular that the lavatories are flushed (confident, they prefer to drink out of the lavatories) they have lots of dry nutrition attainable besides as an computerized waterer and bowls of extra suitable water each the place...(haha). they are going to be ok....in case you DO have somebody which could examine on them it is an exceptionally stable theory....kitties do in contrast to grimy packing containers (and that i've got 4 cat packing containers) and that's the 1st difficulty I do once I come house is sparkling the packing containers. I quite have 5 indoor kitties and one difficulty approximately it quite is that they consistently omit their mama and enable me are conscious of it once I get residing house. they have not any voice yet ours.

My nephew has been in a house with cats since he was six months old, and it never harmed him. Just make sure you supervise the baby.
Enjoy!
