Is he just having a normal reaction to the shots? He had them about 24 hours ago, and about 12 hours after his shots he became lazy and didn't want to go anywhere. I checked his nose and it is dry. Plus he won't eat or drink, and when I try to carry him to the food he cries and wants to go back to bed. Is this normal reaction to shots? I bought him from the SPCA last year, so this is the first time I gave him shots that I know that something happened afterwords. Please help me. I will call the vet tomorrow when they are open, but am worried for him now!

It's normal for animals to be lethargic and not want to eat/drink after receiving vaccines. As long as your cat isn't vomiting, having diarrhea, and isn't swelling in the face, he should be ok.

Usually if a cat has a negative reaction to a vaccine it will happen within 12 hours. However, it is important for your kitty to stay hydrated, so if he won't drink out of his bowl, try putting some water on your finger and let him lick it off.

Take care of the kitty and give him lots of love - good luck!

One day until you talk to the vet should be fine. I had to get a round of rabbis vacs for work and I felt like crapola for a day or so after each one, like I had the flu. I think I know how your cat feels. Some just have a worse reaction to the shots then others, one of mine gets a very upset tummy and sleeps more every time she gets a booster. Do as you say and call the vet, but sounds like he will be fine by tomorrow. Watch him close though, just in case.

It does sound like a reaction to the shots. Your vet should be on call or have someone on call that you can talk to and see what they have to say, so you don't have to wait until tomorrow to at least check with them.

Good luck and I hope your kitty feels better soon.
