Ok, my cat had a litter before in July (all 5 kittens died due to lack of milk). She got pregent(PLEASE DO NOT MOAN ABOUT GETTING MY CAT SPAYED ! ) again and she had 5 kittens last night. We went up today and found that one had died. Is this a good thing because if she couldn't handle 5 kittens last time, she will have a better chance with four ? I'm not saying I wanted the kitten dead but I think it is better chance for her other kittens.

I am pretty sure that the chance of them surviving may increase slightly, but there is no guarantee. A dead kitten is never a good thing lol, but I understand what your saying and really I think that if the kittens are meant to live they will.
Hopefully they do, good luck! BTW, hate moaning about not getting your cat fixed but I would suggest that if these kittens die to, that maybe you go ahead and get her fixed because you don't want her to go through pregnancy only for dead kittens. Trust me if I kept getting pregnant and my kids kept dying, I'd get my tubes tied because that just sucks having to pump out those babies and then having them die, it would put me through so much pain, I'd be so miserable!

I'm not going to moan about it, k? But what I would like to do is offer you some possible resources to assist you in having her spayed if money is tight right now and you DO want to have her spayed. How's that?
First, you do need a vet so let's work on that. If you contact your local chapter of the SPCA and tell them you've 'taken in a stray' with four babies, they will gladly provide you with a well cat certificate. That means Momma and her babies can go to the vet free of charge, and all you have to pay for are any necessary medications. That could solve your problem with dying babies and cost you nearly nothing.
If you'd like to go one step further when the time comes and have her spayed, the SPCA will also provide you with a discount certificate for spaying and you'll only have to pay about $30.00.
If your Momma and her babies need shots, ask the SPCA where and when there is going to be a "rabies clinic" in your area. At a rabies clinic you can get all of their shots at a cost of about $14.00 per cat.
The only thing I know to suggest off the top of my head is for you to take the kittens and hand feed them yourself if she's not able to. It's relatively simple but it's time consuming. There is just so much to consider. Maybe she isn't producing enough milk. Maybe they're sick, which is very possible. Maybe there is something wrong with them that she senses but you can't see. It's impossible to know.
What you should look for is any sign that she or the kittens have runny stools. If that's the case I would suspect Coccidia as this is very common in kittens and frequently contracted from the mother.
Check their gums. If they're pale you have dehydrated and anemic babies. Without some doctoring they won't survive. If you lightly pinch their lil skin and it stays pinched or "tented" as it's more often called, that's yet another symptom of severe dehydration.
Three things the vet startes with as a rule. Flea infestation, worm infestation or parasites...Coccidia is a parasitic infection.
Now here's what I AM going to moan about ..... Here's what I believe. I believe when you find a helpless animal it's because you were chosen. Apparently, according to my beliefs, someone or something feels that YOU are the person who is supposed to help these lil guys. I believe that when you're put in that position you are compelled to act because they are your responsibility. Please... I'm begging you... you didn't have your cat spayed and that's why they are here. PLEASE don't let them die if you can stop it. It may be hard work but I promise you, you will not regret it.
I've posted some links for you in the event you decide you're willing to help. I wish you only the best of luck. If you take them in and you need help please let me know. I'll help you as best I can and if I don't know, I'll find someone who does!!

You should take your cat and its kittens to the vet and see what you can do about the lack of milk.
I know you said not to moan, but it would be healthy to the cat if you got her spayed. Why put up with a pregnant cat if the litter is just going to die? Also if they are dying becase of lack of milk and its your cats fault, it means she's not a devoted mother and shouldn't continue getting pregnant.
Four may be better than five, but your cat just seems to not really want them.
Good luck!

Kitten mortality is high even in well-cared for cats. But you should take the whole lot to the vet to be checked given your last experience.

And yes I am going to moan about getting your cat spayed!!!! Why did you allow her to have a litter again so soon or even at all after the last experience?????

( hehe , i keep on answering all your cat questions) its normal for kittens to die, im not saying that it usually happens, but you get what i mean. maybe it will give her a better chance, maybe not. one thing you can do is try to help the cat with her kittens. check on her daily and make sure that the kittens get milk ( if not, get some warm milk and give it to them) make sure the cat mom is also happy. spend some time with her so that she knows her owner is there and so she has confidence.
good luck ! =)

Your cat probably is just not ready for kittens. Help her out by feeding your cat's kittens specail milk and try to act like a mother by teaching them things like how to use the litter box. to cleam them selves. Good luck!!1
