I give my cat's catnip a few times a day and on Friday night's I mix it in their food, I figure if I'm going out and partying they may want to too. I've noticed over the years they almost seem to be dependent on it, like it's a drug they need because they are use to it.
I'm thinking about cutting them off, but I'm concerned they might suffer from withdrawls, if Is this an irrational concern? I heard if people are cut off from certant drugs the suffer terribly. I would never want to see my, or any pets suffer. I'm actually thinking about keeping them on the stuff for their whole live's for this very reason. Should I, Shoulden't I , they seem happy it's just I stopped smoking herb and now I feel better, I wonder I they would be happier if I stopped enabeling their habbit? Whadaya think?, Please have some fun with this one.

I've been posting like crazy ... now I need some moral support from my cat friend network.

My problem lies in two words ... catbox stink.

My husband is freaking out over the stink.

Currently we have the box in the back hall with windows, but its right next to the kitchen.

I want to move the boxes to the furthest corner in the basement .. but my husband hates the fact that there is no air quality and circulation.

We are in disagreement as to which is the best place.

I am in tears right now ... this may mean we will need to get rid of the cats if we can't find a solution.

Thoughts ... support ... Thanks

hello everyone, i dont know if im postting in the right place or not

anyway, the question is, how can i make a wild cat to be a social ?
i have two wild cats in my back yard, a male and a female,
when i 1st saw them they were solid wild, they even wont showup if theres no food, so at 1st i start to put some food and walk away and then i start to hold the food and just throw small pieces at a good distance between us, and latre i did the same but with shrter distance untill they were next to me, the female was closer and more relaxer than the male, i've been doin this for like a week now but still not 100% done, i've tryed to touch the female couple of time but every time i touch her she freaks out, how can i touch her w/o she freaks out ??
i want her to be more friendly more social more relax

any feedback will be appreciate

i really dont think she has fleas, but she itches alot, but i dont know if that just her cleaning herself. Shes declawed on her front paws (she was like that when we got her) so i dont know if thats her trying to itch more casue she doesnt have claws. and she was laying on my bed and when i picked her up, there where little black spots where she was laying on the bed, they didnt look like bugs though, and i treid looking in her fur, i didnt find anything, but she really wouldnt let me look much.
well thankyou everyone for your help!

We are hoping to adopt very soon. They are not super young, one is 5 months and the other one looks younger, but I think he looks older than 8 weeks. We have all our supplies already (litter box, scratching post, etc). We are not letting them upstairs since my husband has slight allergies and the #1 rule is to keep them out of the bedroom. We already know the secrets to controlling the allergy part, now we need the secrets to controlling the kittens! At least, as much as it is possible to control them! FYI Downstairs is the living/dining area, kitchen, and a half bath.

I just found a tick on my cat. and i read up on it and learned not to pull it off. but i see that there is a tiny cut on my cat where the tick is. I think that the tick made the cut.. but if i put vasoline on it to deprive it of alcohol will it irritate my cats open wound?

My kitten is an indoor only cat, lately she has been sneeking outside. It's hard to get in the door with 4 kids, groceries and keep the little black rat inside! I'm usually chasing after her, catching her and putting her back inside. Last year my cat was killed by coyotes and I do not want this to happen to her. I don't want to lock her in a room when I'm out all day. She is microchipped and gets spayed next month. I am going to get her a collar and id tag soon.

I heard the old chips would migrate; I heard the chips cause tumors. What have you heard about the chip?

We are adopting 2 kittens, and have a fairly large dog cage that is not in use. I am worried about the kittens exploring the house unattended. Would it be cruel to keep the kittens in the cage at night. Or while I am out of the house until they become more familiarized with the apartment.
I was thinking of putting down carpet reminants because of the larger lattice on the bottom.

It's about to get really cold outside, should i go and get this cat it's shots, and get a nice flea bath so he can stay in with me and my cat, Mr. Cooper, or is it always going to be an outside cat? He looks about a year to a year and a half...VERY healthy (plump). I feed the cat, so is that enough for him to survive the winter in Indiana?

yeah i went to vet to finally get her stitches out the vet said it will be normal to see that knot type spot on her tummy. it looks bumpy will it disapear and be like that for her. this is from being spayed btw. It just feels like the vet didn't do it right and i get worried. my cat seems fine though.

My landlord started a no pets policy in my buliding. Since I had my cat before he took over, we had a verbal agreement I can keep him under the condition that he as well as none of my nieghbors see's him in the window. I don't want any answers on how my landlord can or can't make me get rid of him. I want to know if there's any way i can stop him from jumping up there. There's been a ton of complaints on how unfair it is that we're the only ones with a pet and I guess it's becoming a bigger issue than we thought. My landlord said if we don't stop him from getting up there we have to get rid of him or he's evicting us. We have a week. Help!!! I can't lose my little baby, he's part of the family. I heard there may be a spray but I have a one year old. Is there anything else besides locking him in one room cuz that would be so mean!!

My 8 month old kitten was spayed when I bought her and in a kennel with her sister. I am convinced she was taken from her mom too soon. She is an only cat & has many toys. We don’t let her outside because she fights the neighbor cats. I love on her all the time, sing her name to her and play with her. All too often when one of us tries to pet her, her eyes will dilate, sometimes ears go back and bite or scratch seriously like she is feeling threatened. I first tried the firm, "No, Misty." 3 weeks later went to the tap on the butt and a "No, Misty!" I noticed that the tap caused her to feel more threatened so I stopped. Now when she latches on to my hand I tell her firmly, "No, Misty." Freeze and hopefully she lets go then leave her alone. I have started picking her up when she lets go, talk to her gently, stroke her back-she does calm down until I put her down and try to play or pet. She sleeps with me and I know she loves me but how do I get her to stop feeling angry / threatened?

My parents dog chased a cat that was in their yard to the neighbors yard. The cat, broke its leg somehow in the chase. The hospital bill for the cat was $3000! Are my parents liable for the entire bill if at all? I think its utterly ridiculous that someone would spend that much money on a pet, but that may just be me. We live in Pennsylvania by the way.

Me mom says that cats have a disease in their fur that causes something in the blood of females to not be able to have children.
I just got a kitty. he's a longhair. and she is using this excuse to want to leave him in a CAGE outside even though he's a HOUSE CAT. is it true that they have a disease?
