You could try some double sided tape. Cats hate anything that sticks to their paws. This is mostly used on furniture to help keep them from scratching, but I would think it would work the same for your window sill.

Why don't you block the window by putting up blinds or something that he can't move so that noone sees him when he jumps up there? This will also make the window less interesting for him and he won't try to sit in it anymore.
I wouldn't try to get him to stop jumping in the window if you only have a week, I would probably just put a window-sized picture there so that I still had a pretty view but nobody could see inside.
And actually anyone who tells you that the landlord can't make you get rid of the cat is stupid. He can by providing the ultimatum that he gave you.
Anyway, I hope you figure this out and do whatever works best for you and get to keep your kitty.

Curtains? A 3-piece folded room divider right in front of the window?
Otherwise get yourself a roll of clear, 2" wide packing tape. Cut off 12" lengths and set them sticky side up on the sill. Every time the cat steps on it and triggers the 'trap', let it stay on him for 15 minutes and re-do the trap. He won't associate you with the punishment, will decide sticky stuff isn't worth going up there, and he'll stay off it.
But use the other room to keep him out of sight when you need to--they sleep most of the day anyway and it's not that mean.

I'd start looking for a new place. You have a chickenshit landlord, who apparently doesn't have the guts to stand up to the whiners.
Better yet, why don't you find a way to just buy the damn building yourself?
My cat spends 1/4 of the day in one window sill or another. He absolutely loves it, and it would really trouble me to take that away from him.
How about this? Take a picture of your kitty sitting in the window. Blow it up to life size, make a bunch of copies, tape them to cardboard, and put a paper kitty in every single window! Then just tell everyone it was just a picture, not a cat. In real life, that probably won't work, but I liked the idea.

At Home Depot or other home hardware outlets you can get a roll of semi-transparent, 1-way plastic type scenery or decorative privacy stick ons that adhere to glass windows and screen out . They come in 1' or so widths, so would be perfect to stick on the lower part of window above the sill.
Cats would NOT be scene fr. outside and the cat would probably NOT even want to go on ledge coz kitty can't see out that well.
Other than the obstacles as suggested in other replies on the sill,.... maybe look for a pet-friendly bldg. or bsmt. ste., where you and kitty would be less stressed and "on edge" (excuse the pun!)
Good luck.

hey, i'm sure not where you are but i'm in australia and there are these sticky strips you can buy in pet stores. you put them on whatever surface you want for a cat to keep off of. theyre clear as well so wont be very noticeable... we put them on our furniture our cat had taken a particular liking to and she hasnt touched it since.. something about sticky surfaces cats dont seem to like. Our cat also hates aluminium foil so that works for us too... Tho some cats love that stuff. Do you have another window he can sit at without being seen by neighbours? Cats love being up high and "looking over their kingdom"! I hope you find something

I'm so sorry about your situation. Can you block the windows off half-way so that light comes in but the cat is not visible (think an upside-down roman shade). You could try the sprays, too. Good luck to you - maybe a new apt. building will open up and solve the problem completely :-)

I have a cat that scratched the lounge so i put some moth balls into a screw top plastic container and put small holes
in the top and sides. cats hate the smell and wont go near
the area where the container is.I also have a tub with sand in the botton and moth balls on top on the portch to stop the tom cats from spraying my front door. This has worked for me very well.

Can he actually evict you in a week or will he have to start proceedings against you, since he agreed you could keep the cat he surely would not have aleg to stand on. Try this question on laws and ethics, I know you want to keep your cat but surely safeguarding your home must be a priority too.

that's a hard one
The spray stuff is from apples so it's not harmful.
Can you lock your cat in another room.
What about somehow attach the curtains to the wall (like with double stick tape) so your cat can't get to the sill
