Well think again buster! The worse and most likely thing that would happen is that the cat would die. This is actually a very common thing - owners accidentally (or purposefully) but dog flea treatment on cat = dead cat.
If it's a veterinary treatment, it's less likely to cause damage but do NOT risk it. If it's store-bought treatment, putting it on a cat would basically be murder.
I'm serious, I've known many cats to die from owners doing this. It causes seizures within about half an hour, and death if not treated - flea treatments used in pet stores are neurotoxic to cats.
So DON'T DO IT!!! Why would you want to anyway, exactly?

DEATH-
The cat will go into tremors that lead to convulsions that lead to seizures and then death. I have seen it too many times at my animal hospital. Cats come in seizuring because the owner used a dog flea product and not a cat product. Cats are not small dogs. There are products specifically formulated for them for a reason. Even if your cat were to survive, his kidneys would be severely affected and his lifespan shortened.
Please use a cat product from your vets office.

When I was a child, my friend's mom used a dog flea bath on their cat, and he died. I would definitely NOT try it. There are warnings for a reason.

PLEASE make sure that your cat is old enough to administer the medication to. Kittens under 12 weeks can DIE. read the label and also consult your local Vet, they can tell you over the phone, for free, how to use it correctly.

No, the worst that can happen is that it will get sick, go into seizures, you will spend hundreds/thousands at the vet and your cat will still die. PLEASE PLEASE tell me it is NOT HARTZ!! They have been killing animals for over 5 years. Check out www.hartzvictims.org
