Call 1-800-SpayUSA to find a low-cost clinic closest to you or go to their website to find one. I have never heard of a humane society that requires you to bring a kitten in for an exam ($60) prior to surgery.

Humane societies may require that your kitten has had his basic kitten shots however. Those can be started with a regular vet visit and followed up with low-cost shots from a humane society or commercial service like the vets who do vaccinations at PetSmart, etc.

Maybe the $60 fee will turn out to be less expensive than a regular vet visit for shots and with the neutering may come in under $100 for the total deal.

Where on earth do you live that charges that much to neuter a cat? It's $90 here in the Midwest, and there are low cost neuter/spay clinics in every state that charge less.

Do a google.com search for low cost pet neuter, I'm sure you'll find something. You can also call cat rescue groups and ask where the best prices are, or several vets, they should all be able to answer this question.

Geez, even spaying at full cost would only be $140 here. And that's internal surgery.

First off, a lot of places have traveling spaying/neutering vans that can do it cheaply. As for Long Island, I have NO idea... however, if you want to go up to orange county, there is the TARA van (the animal rights alliance- drop kitty off, pay $50, pick up kitty later, I used them). You can find their number online... I'd also try calling them and asking if they know anyone in LI. One agency like that always tends to know others. The other thing I would suggest is calling ASPCAs and Humane Societies... they have to do their critters cheap, so maybe they can help you out.

thats CRAZY...theres 3 animal hospitals in my town and none of them charge more than $60 to spay a cat & $50 to neuter one...thats including annesthesia the surgery the stitches and an over nite stay @ their clinic to keep an eye out for it during it's 1st night...you could try calling a petsmart store i know theyre not that expensive...ive never heard of it costing so much i hope you can find a place!

Hi. I'm not from Suffolk County, I'm actually in NJ, but I definitely can relate to your situation. What I did was have my male cat neutered for $53 at the spca. Here is your spca's info: Suffolk County SPCA

In my city, you can contact the Anti-Cruelty Society or Paws. Spaying or Neutering is generally around $65. I would recommend going online and Googling these philantropies to see if there is a location in your area.

Ok, it's ok to be mad, but let's not be immature "bunch of cats & bring kittens to their doorstep". That's not punishment to them, just to the cats.

Anyways, contact local rescues, they often have a low cost spay/neuter clinic available. (Look on Petfinder.com for a list of rescues in your general area).
