I have a kitty that has really sharp nails. I don't want to get her declawed because I'm afraid it might be hard for her to use her litter box. I want to use one of my new nail files to file down her nails a little so that they are not too sharp, but are still long enough for her to use her liter. So is it okay to do this?

I had one that ate hamburger pickle slices and then ask for more! Naturally, I obliged--it is cheaper than cat food.

On a whim, I decided it would be cool to breed my cats. I was originally thinking of breeding my two dogs together (rottie and a weimaraner) but decided against it, cats are easier. My cats are a tabby (2 years old, male) and some type of mix (stray, probably 10-12 years old, female). What do I need to look out for? How do I go about this? Will it cost me anything?

I have a cat and for some reason my clothes stink like coconuts and urine- even after I wash them. Does this happen to anyone else? I take the cat to get groomed monthly and he smells fine but he is stinking up my clothes and house. Any ideas?

I am soooooo mad. I asked a question about 2 days ago in regards to whether my kittens could get anything from the vet while staying there overnight after being neutered.

Come today, I saw (when I was examining his surgery site) a white boogerish looking thing that I took off and put it on a paper towel. To my suprise that thing started to move. I also took notice that my kittens are also scratching themselves more than usual, and there are little white specs on their furs. I called the vet and sure enough the lady says its probably tape worms and possibly something else. She told me I have to bring my kittens in. After I got off the phone, I lifted his tail and yet again there was a brownish liquidy discharge. I wiped it off and put it in a baggy to bring in with me. I have an appointment in 2 hours, but I still want to ask you guys:

Luckily enough I managed to grab him and the little thing got away unharmed. I know they are pests but all my cat does is play with them till they die, whereas if he catches a bird he will eat it. I know it's nature and you can't stop cats from doing it, but how do you deal with it?

I rescued a stray kitten (about three months old) from my shared backyard (I live in a muti-unit dwelling) and she has an abundance of fleas. All the cat grooming products caution that a cat this young could be harmed by the chemicals contained in the shampoos, powders, etc., that you would use on an older cat, and even though I have bathed her regularly with some of these products, she still has fleas. She seems to suffer so much (she scratches and cries) and I have tried everything I can think of (brushing, baths) it does not seem to be getting better. Is there something I can use that won't hurt her? I can't bear to see her suffer any more.

I do keep 9-lives hard food on hand for them but for their morning meal it is the soft food or nothing at all for them. They meow or "screech" is more like it if I try to get them to eat something else. They will eat the hard food during the day as they run in and out but for morning and before bedtime, they want the 9-lives. I have tried other brands, no go - they will leave it in the dish and meow. Yes, my animals are spoiled - including the stray dog I took in plus my farm animals. I have one peacock that only eats in a certain place and when I go the farm to feed, he goes to "his" spot and will not budge until I bring the food to him. But as for the cats, I am concerned because they eat 2 cans of soft food a day - is this bad for them? The vet says feed hard food but they will not eat it unless they have their can of soft food in the mornings. I tried not feeding them soft food at all but they would not touch the hard food for about 3 days & I gave in and gave them the soft food.

I have a 1 and a half year old kitten, and she stopped using the litter box a few months ago. I thought she may have had a urinary tract infection. I took her to the vet and she got a clean bill of health. Then I tried to put her in the litter box when she started scratching on the floor.....whenever I did that she would squirm and act frightened.
Its like shes afraid of the litter box and refuses to use it.
I moved it to a quieter area and even put a privacy tent over it, but she still gets frightened when I put her in it.
I keep the litter clean, I don't change brands so I'm not sure what it can be. HELP PLEASE!!!

they were both strays, so neither have been "fixed" yet. i am sitting in my bedroom right now watching to see what happens with the two of them... but my male cat is being anti-social. he got mad with her once for sniffing around his bottom... who wouldn't, eh? but, he didn't seem intent on really hurting her, just scaring her away. right now, he is hanging out under the bed. i want to introduce them, but i don't want hurt kitties on my hands. plus, i don't want either too get jealous or feel forgotten... specifically the male. anyone have experience or advice???
