My nephew found a kitten abandoned and it is now about 8 wks old. They were unable to keep the kitten so now I have it... of course, lol. My question is that the cat doesn't seem to be able to see me clearly from about 6ft+ away. It can clearly see movement, but acts leary until you are close enough or call it. I'm wondering if this is the reason it was separated from its mother... Any opinions? Thanks!

I can't stand my boyfriend's cat, and I've tried giving her many chances. I've bought her toys and have tried playing with her. She growls and hisses at me, scratches my dog and me, claws curtains, and sucks up to my boyfriend. She's peed on me, too. My boyfriend doesn't seem to think she's bad because she still likes him. She does this LOUD meow/howl thing when she wants attention, and he just rewards it. This cat is such a brat, and she acts all innocent and loving to my boyfriend. It's driving me nuts! What can I do?

there's a big tom cat that looks after my cat who's a spayed female. she kinda gets picked on by all the other cats because she's the newest to the territory, and this tom cat defends her, he's been in 3 fights so far for her (awww). anyway, as reward for his heroic antics, i've kind of adopted him so i see him every night for feeding except for his tomming days. after his most recent tomming session he's come back very grouchy, he won't come near me, flinches when i go toward him and just generally seems like he was the first time i caught him pinching her food. very cautious and seems somewhat scared of me. i never ever so much as acted suprised to see him even from day one, so why all of a sudden is he acting like i'm a complete stranger? i can't see any injuries on him, so anyone have any ideas?

It's a pathetic little squeak that sound more like a mouse. Our older cat could "miaow" at 7 months. I don't think it's a problem but is it normal and at what age should a cat start to "miaow"?

I was given a Farrel cat to care for after being spayed and surgery on his broken jaw. How do I dare to tame this wild cat? He is fearful everytime I get near him. Should I just let him go after he is healed and has been in a new place for five weeks? Will he stay around or try to leave his new home?

I have a 1 yr old cat who weighs approx 10 lbs. he is declawed and fixed. I recently got a 6 wk old kitten. She was a stray and I have taken her in, to the dismay of my older cat. He didn't like her at first, now he wants to play with her, but he gets really rough. How can I get him not to be so aggresive with her without scolding him.

I came home from work yesterday and found my 1 year old kitty dead under an end table. I left for work at about 8am, and came home at 1:30 and she was already stiff...as if she had been dead for a couple of hours at least. Nothing seemed to be out of place. She was laying on her side, with all four legs out, her tail out, and there was a little blood that had come out of her mouth. I had her spayed when she was about 5 months old, and she had a reaction to the Anesthetics. It took her a couple of months to stop being shaky and to stop bobbling her head. It then took a couple more months for her to start jumping. Could that have caused issues with her brain and heart and could she have died from a stroke or heart attack? I have two other cats at home and they were ok when I got there. What do you guys think could have happened?

My bf and I have discovered an adorable kitten in my apt complex. He's very thin, and always hungry & thirsty. However, he's very friendly and comfortable around people, and tries to go into any apt that has a door open. If I take him, he's going to go see a vet before he comes inside to get fixed & get shots (I have another cat, so this is a must!). He doesn't have a collar or anything. I'd like to take him in, but I don't want to be a catnapper! How can I tell if the little guy has a home already?

I used an over the counter flea control drop that goes on similiar to Advantage. My cat somehow licked it off her skin and started acting weird. I thought she was going to have a seizure. She was really flipping out. has anyone ever had this happen to them while using advantage?

shes only got an insision about 1-2cm...small, i know.

i'm baffled by her.

I am very scared for my cat...he is severely obese....when you pick him up it feels like he has a lead bar in his stomach he's so heavy.....he even walks funny at times, as almost if he's in pain on one of his legs. He wants food constantly....I don't know if he was starved as a kitten or what (we got him at a shelter when he was 3 and he was thin) but he eats almost anything now. We've been trying this regiment....1/4 cup dry in the morning, 1/8 cup dry around 2 pm, half a mini can of Friskies wet food around 5 pm, and then 1/8 cup dry just before bed to hold him over until morning....it doesn't seem to be working....do you think getting a baby kitten might help him lose weight? Maybe they would play together and he'd get more exercise....we had another cat about 2 months ago and he was starting to lose weight then, but we had to get rid of the new cat because of bad behavior problems with the new adult cat we introduced. Do you think this would work?

My neighbor gave me her 2 year old female cat. She had to move into an apartment and couldn't take the cat. She told me she had the cat spayed a year and a half ago. She also told me the cat is up to date on her shots. But the cat is in heat.

I'm sure I was lied to. Should I get her her shots when I get her spayed? If she lied to me about her being fixed, more than likely, she lied to me about her shots to.

I have a 3 year old female Siamese named Perdita. She is an indoor cat and was fixed about 2 years ago. Lately she has been crying NON STOP! She has plenty of food/water. I play with her, love her, and pet her! I can not seem to make her happy. The weather has recently gotten cold, could that be it? She is due for her yearly check up, but not saying anything bad about vets, but it seems they like to just run lots of expensive test. Money is not an issue...I just don't like her going through all the test. What do you think ti could be?

While he is suckling, nothing is touching his penis, he even spreads his legs apart. I am not sure if this is normal or if I should be worried. I don't understand why his penis becomes so "active" while he seems to be doing something I thought was related to comfort and nurturing.
Does anyone have guidance on this.

A neighbor's cat is in the yard all the time --- stalking wild birds (mostly migrating sparrows) and squirrels -- every couple of days -- I find a lot of feathers in the yard -- was just wondering -- can a cat get sick from eating wild birds? thanks

The question is pretty much self explanitory..
I have an older cat, and I am just wondering how I can get her live to her full extent.
Also, how old do cats generally live to?

It's 10 pm. I have a stray cat at my front porch, meowing. I gave him some food, he didn't eat, I guess he wants to get inside for some warmth (its cold outside here). He's clearly a house cat as I handled him and he was very nice, clean, and completely declawed. There are no tattoos that I could spot, and no collar. I don't know if he has a chip. All animal control, local vet hospitals, and pet stores are closed for the night. I can't let him in the house, I have 2 small kittens and I don't know how they'll react nor want to try to find out. What should I do?
