I have a 1 yr old cat who weighs approx 10 lbs. he is declawed and fixed. I recently got a 6 wk old kitten. She was a stray and I have taken her in, to the dismay of my older cat. He didn't like her at first, now he wants to play with her, but he gets really rough. How can I get him not to be so aggresive with her without scolding him.

The kitten will get away if she doesnt like it. If he gets too rough you might have to scold your other cat.

We're sort of going through the same thing, we have a 14yr old cat and just got 2 VERY PLAYFUL kittens. The kittens want to play with the older one SO bad, but he hates them!! We only let them together in monitored situations, he tripes to swipe/smack them and when he does we have a squirt/water bottle that we spray at him -- that usually works, it's worth a try!

You can't really... you could pick him up and say a firm "no" when he gets too rough, but i would think, if the kitten gets tired of the rough play, it will hide.

Take care.

omg! dats exactly wut happened with us! but the younger cat was the one that stated it, what we did was, you put them in different rooms, than every 3 hours you take both of the cats and make them look as each other for like an hour, but two people have to hold both of the cats and they have to be like a foot away from each other, and they will hiss and stuff, but thats what will get them to get used to each other.
