my two cats that had fleas have now gone,will any fleas that are left in the house die off because they have no host

YOU may become the host! Suggest you get a good "flea bomb" (aerosol fogger) and get them out of there. You will need to do it again in a month or so to get rid of the young fleas that hatch from any eggs left behind.

They can feed off you! Also, flea eggs can lay dormant for a very long time - they can be stimulated to hatch by heat, so you're likely to see an infestation when you turn on the heating in winter!

You need to spray the house if you want to be sure the fleas are gone, the population won't just die off. Get a proper spray from a vets because pet store treatments don't work. You may have to spray your house twice, 10 days apart, to get any newly hatched eggs

no no no ....the fleas will start on you, or the will become dormant until the perfect conditions arise again, you need to treat you house too. Fleas can like dormant for about 2 years.

If the environment is warm enough,and has sufficient humidity levels, fleas can survive for up to six months without a pet in the house. They will occasionally bite you too! You need to exterminate them or they will continue to be bothersome.
