Then we use this flea killing carpet powder.... you pour and vaccumm but it has a flea killer in it...... it is concerning that bombing didn't work.. are you getting at the source?

We were having the same problem with our "city" cats (living at daughhters' apartments). We used Frontline combined with bombing the apartments for fleas, and still more fleas.

After a couple months of trying to deal with it on our own, I called our vet. She said indications were that the Frontline was working, since the cats visit the farm, but we don't have a flea problem. Keep using it. So, step one, treat your cat with Frontline to kill any fleas that bite so they don't lay eggs. Fleas can't breed unless the feed. If they can bite your cat and live, the eggs will be laid and keep hatching out.

Next, I told her we had bombed for the fleas, but she said she has had little luck with bombs, since one flea lays 100 eggs and they all will hatch out unless stopped. What we were seeing was subsequent hatchings of all the flees we didn't get BEFORE the Frontline was applied, then between Frontline doses. So, we did Frontline at one 2 week interval, to make sure there was no non-killing time. Then we got the product she recommended which is "Raid Flea Kill PLUS" (the plus was the important part) with egg stop.

To use the product, she suggested that we remove the cat (just put it in a bathroom or carrier on the porch), and spray the carpeting, making sure to get all corners, nooks and crannies. Then the furniture. (test in an inconspicuous spot first). Take all the cushions off and spray them and under them. Thorough is the key. She even suggested tipping up the furniture and spraying the undersides.

After the spray dries, about 2 hours, it is safe to let the cat back in. We vacuumed the next day, and that was it NO MORE FLEAS!!!!!! There were still a few on the cat, biting and dying, but their were no new hatch-outs. So nice to have that ordeal over!!!!!!!!!

Hope you can do the same.

Probably because you're using pet store products. These DON'T WORK. Pet stores aren't licensed to sell the proper chemicals for flea treatment - anything you find in store is just going to be a basic pesticide that you can't expect to work. Flea bombs, powders, foggers - anything from a store is useless.

Get some proper treatment from your vets. Frontline, Advantage and Revolution for your pets all work. You also need to pick up a proper house spray. You may have to spray your house twice, 10 days apart, to get any newly hatched eggs.

Sounds like you've spent a lot of money on flea treatments so far - sorry it was a waste! Well, now you know.

When you vacuum, put a flea collar in the vacuum to kill them while you're vacuuming.
Whatever product you use, make sure that you use one that has a growth inhibitor so that it will also kill eggs and larvae.

Put a *good* monthly flea prevention on your cats. The cheap stuff has been shown not to work well.

You're going to have to wash and clean *everything*.

Good luck!

Please use a flea prevention medication like Advantage or Frontline on your pets. It's not that expensive and you'll spend a week vacuuming up dead fleas, but they'll be gone for good.
