You have a good kind heart for animals. Don't ever change. Your parents should be taken to task for their callous ways but unfortunately a lot of people are like that. This is why we have the ASPCA. To protect innocent animals.
May I suggest something? Do some volunteer work at someplace like a vets office or animal hospital or a pound or any place like that. These animals need people like you and while you're there you can be learning a vocation in animal husbandry. Wouldn't that be a great job? To get payed for doing something you love?
But for right now volunteer work will at least put you on the winners side and make you feel like you're making a difference. Because you are making a difference!
Okay kiddo? Good luck!

Maybe your parents think they will stop you from being so sensitive if they make a joke out of it. This sounds mean & I know it hurts (ppl have done that to me, too), but they might actually believe that if you're not so sensitive things won't hurt you so much & this is thier way of making you more "tough."
For now, try not to cry when you see a lonely animal. It won't help the animal & your parents will turn it into a joke, which will hurt you more. If there's nothing you can do for the dog, cat or whoever, you can send out a silent prayer for it if you're a praying person.
Actually, if you really want to help animals you need to be strong b/c there is so much cruelty & indifference in the world. I'm sensitive too but I had to learn not to cry @ a lot of things b/c I had to be tough in order to be of any use. I would cry when my dad killed gophers in the yard & ppl just thought I was weird (I care about all animals, not just the "cute" ones). I hated the thought of eating meat for dinner.
Now I'm vegetarian & live with lots of companion animals, most of whom are rescues. I'm lucky to have an understanding SO who also loves animals. I learned a long time ago that I can't directly help *every* animal in need, but that doesn't stop me from doing whatever I can, whenever I can.
Good luck to you & bless you for caring so much about the little ones.

How about reporting your parents to the child welfare agency for emotionally abusing you? That's exactly what they are doing.
And if your parents are abusing animals, report them for that too.
They may grow tired of having the authorities at the house all the time and then they'll grow up and leave you alone.
Speak to a guidance counselor or therapist to help you sort this out.
And if you are over 18, move out immediately.

Lots of people's maternal or paternal instincts are turned toward animals in the years before it's appropriate for you to use it up on actual humans.
Your parents are teasing you because you show your instinct so strongly. It's not sad to see an animal alone on the street, but you seem to feel it needs smother-loving and care.
Scale back on how much of this instinct you show them. Maybe you'd be smart to volunteer at an animal shelter and "use up" your emotions toward animals on the ones that actually need care.

First life is unfair a lot of the time. It's due to human frailty. But having cruel parents is horrid. They have been giving the message that people are cruel, can't be trusted, that your sensitivity is stupid. It's perverted behavior. No wonder you love animals...they love easily and faithfully...even when their owner is cruel to them. It seems the aloneness of the animal represents your own loneliness and you are compassionate and identify with them. Stay the way you are, accept your parents for who they are. You don't have to like them. If your existence with them is life threatening and it is legal in your state, you might petition the courts for "emancipation". Consider it.

Your parents seem to be deliberately tormenting you because they think your oversensitivity is funny. Try to can it around them.
It's a virtue to be kind and merciful to animals, but focus on the good that you can do, not all the bad things that happen.
A good way to do this is to volunteer at an animal shelter, and even donate money to animal shelters. You could become a vegetarian as well, and that will give you plenty of opportunities to talk to friends about your love of animals.

your story is sad because your Mom and Dad choose to abuse your sensitivities. Don't allow their cruel behavior to continue to upset you. Hate whatever made them so inconsiderate but show them love and try to understand who treated them so badly that they learned this behavior. All that you can do is a better job than others have taught you by bad examples.

Wow sweety that is really emotional, your parents should not do that, it is really harsh to revive somebody's past sorrows, honey I really feel for you and I would love to help but life is like that, and we have to move on. My goldfish died last week and I didn't let anyone flush him down the toilet, instead I put him in a jar of water and threw him to the sea, I really miss him but I moved on. You should too and talk to your parents about your emotions and how you feel when they tell you sad stories, let your emotions out. :-) It'll be ok, life will do that to us sometimes.

first of all do not Hate your parents. Just tell them "you have excepted that animals are just that...animals. You can not change things by crying over it."
Maybe then they will stop tell you sad stories.
2ed: No one ever said life is easy or fair...LLife is what you make it. Do what you can when you can and what you can't just wait.
