Cats do eat rodents. One mouse has about 2 calories and is a well-balanced meal, besides providing exercise. Feral cats live on them.

Probably the reason for not having them in food is 1) sanitation and 2) marketing. They should have goldfish and parakeet flavors as well.

Meat really doesn't have much "flavor". We brown or sear ours as the charring gives a sweetness to the meat.

So when any meat is cooked to death as it is in commercial cat food it doesn't have flavor. Most manufacturers add fish meal or tuna flavorings and artificial flavors to their product.

It would be very uneconomical and difficult to raise mice or rats for cat food. The corporations that make cat food have found it very profitable to use the by-product meat from poultry, beef and fish for their products. They also make human food so they can have a use for the heads, feet, entrails and organs of animals - the cats and dogs get the "crap" for their food.

Because cats don't really like to EAT mice, they just like to catch them for the sport of it. Cat's are natural born hunters, that's why they go after things like mice. Most cats don't instantly kill mice either, they play them to death. Think about it for a minute, don't you think if cats really liked the taste of rodents, there would be a cat food flavor like it?

I think the "flavors" the company sells are picked to sound good to the person buying them, not the cat. If your cat went grocery shopping instead of the other way around I think they very well might bring home a can of Campbell's Cream of Mouse Soup for you!

Cats don't really eat rodents, they just have the instinct to catch anything that moves.

I think its because people would assume that the company actually had some one taste a rodent to see what it tastes like..... LOL...... i love how they can say "new and improved flavor".... like WE could tell the difference
