My mom has told me that she heard that ALL orange tabby cats are male... I told her this wasn't true because I have seen orange tabby females. She doesn't 100% believe me, so if someone could help me find a site that states that not all orange tabbies are male, that would be great! Also, she believes that all calico females cannot reproduce because she has never seen a pregnant calico.. or a calico female give birth. I have again told her that I knew of calico's who have had kittens. What is everyones idea on these theories?? Have you ever heard the same myths??

I like the name Oprah but would that be considered racist? I know it's a stupid question but I'm serious. I'm sick of all the regular names for pets like blackie, and all that..

I mentioned I had a white kitten with a grey spot on top of her head, and user "Old Cat Lady" responded by saying the grey spot is an indication that the kitten is not deaf and it will fade in time.
When do most kittens lose the grey spot? She is almost a month old.
And, also, if she ends up with blue eyes I should assume there is no problem? (I hear blue eyes are associated with deafness in some white cats... but since she has the grey spot and since her mother is an all white/blue eyed Oriental shorthair, it would be considered a normal trait, right?)
* She responds to noise quite well, by the way.
Thanks a lot in advance!

And I have tried the powder stuff today, then brushed him...And only a couple fleas actually came out, he has really short hair and I dont know how they can hide in there.I washed all fabrics today too... But should I go back to the vet store and stick a flea collar on him even if he has fleas? WIll it help at all?

I have grown up with cats my whole life, but I have never had the responsibility of caring for one. This is my first time, any help would actually help. Thanks.

My cat became severely ill after eating one of the brands of tainted cat food. He eventually got a little better, but then suddenly got sicker than what he was before. This past Friday he died as a result of kidney failure. My family is trying to figure out where we can file a claim regarding this issue. Thanks in advance.

my cat loves to kill birds and gophers and lay out in the sun. Now I have to force him outside and then he just sits by the door waiting to come back in.

I moved to a new home (actually a new state) a few years ago, and for somereason my cat wouldn't stop peeing on everything. The couch, the floor, the beds, even in the kitchen. We tried to make her stop. Yes she was pottytrained before we moved. But she wouldn't stop peeing. So my dad got really mad and said that we had to give her away. And me and my brother were VERY upset because we had had her since she was a kitten, and she was I think 4 years old. We begged out dad for more chances but he said no more. Then one day after my brother and I had been thinking for a while, we thought that the weather is nice enough outside, so let's ask if she could be an outdoor cat. Thankfully my dad said okay. Now she is used to living outside, but this year it's going to be more cold then the years before. So I was wondering how I could make my cat a nice warm comfy home for her to sleep in, or just relax in. I know she has fur, but I want her to be okay. She douesn't have to go inside of it.

Took my cat to the emergency room last night, he's not eating, very unresponsive and either threw up or expelled some kind of very dark green liquid.
ER Vet couldn't determine what was wrong with him, other than he's very dehydrated (10% according to test). They want me to "wait and see" and I was hoping a knowledgeable professional might give me a second opinion.
Tests that were given with results:
CREA 2.6
BUN 70+
PHOS 4.4
FELV- negative
FIV - negative
Glucometer 280
I was given amoxi drops to administer until they are gone, 1.5ml twice a day. Any other advice? It's Sunday so I can't get a regular vet until tomorrow.

We've been taking care of a stray kitten for about 2 weeks now, and she is about 5 weeks old or so. For the first week she always ate and was very happy, and now she is losing weight and won't drink, so I have to force feed her with the bottle. We're very worried about her...what should we do to try and help her eat, or get her energy back? We know she's sad because she was a stray and was separated from her mom.

I know cats choose where they want to live. I've always had at least 2 moggies since the day I was born, now my parents have five and me and my bf have one. He was hanging around when we moved in, we thought maybe he was next door's. He was not - we asked, we gave them the option of claiming him. He then chose to come and live with us, so we named him, gave him a collar and did the necessaries. But, the neighbours are taking him in of an evening, so we can't spend time with him, and he's not eating his food (Whiskas), which he normally loves. I know the neighbours are taking him in because I've caught them letting him out. They had him in til 1am, by which time we had gone to bed, they kicked him out, meaning he was stuck outside in the cold all night - the lady's husband was on a night shift, so I guess she wanted the company. But so did I! What can I do? He comes running straight back to us when they let him out so it's not like he's moved house or anything. It's frustrating,

He has an abnormal growth on his mouth that has not gone away with antibiotic treatment. The Vet says that next week he wants to take out the growth and do a biopsy on it. He said it might be cancer. And I just got all depressed and started thinking about when I should put him to sleep. He is not suffering, he is happy and he eats and gets excited by stuff. I promised myself that I would put him to sleep if he is suffering but I just don't see it. I think it might be worse to put him to sleep when he does start suffering and being depressed. What do I do?

i excersice my cat with his mouse toy. i notice that when he plays really hard he starts to exhale loudly throught his nose/whisker area. he does this about once or twice really quick and then is back to silent again. is this a sign of cat asthma or is this just him panting?

i get worried so when i exercise him, i try not to make him play too hard, just moderate. when i can see his heart is beating faster, i stop and tell him to breath and then i start exhaling as an example, and he actually mimics it! i found that helps him calm down his heart rate.

is this normal for cats when they play hard or is it a sign of asthma? im gonna ask the vet next month at his vaccine shots...but Any insight into this would be appreciated thanks.

I have 4 cats (including 16 week kitten) and a 9 week puppy. I put cat food in an ice cream container in one room and puppy's food in a low bowl in another room with her pen. Occasionally the cats eat her food but rarely as it's in her pen and is 'no go' zone. However recently my puppy (shih tzu) has become big enough to get her head in the ice cream container and eat some cat food. What should i do???
