Hello,
Sorry about your flea problem, this becomes a busy time of year for the critters as the central heating goes on! Wow they all hatch out in the warmth!
Don't use a cat collar, it must be horrible to small insecticide just under your nose all the time! Miaou!
Use a good flea spray such as Acclaim to knock out the flea eggs and larvae around the house, then use a spot on liquid such as Advantage to kill the fleas on the cat! For best results for a spot on flea treatment visit your vet!
Result happy cat and stressless you!
Good luck

NO flea collars. They only work round the neck, so fleas just go to the other parts of the cat! Don't bother with any of them. Some are also harmful!
Frontline, Advantage, Revolution and Advocate are the ones that work. Get some from a vet. Don't use ANYTHING from a pet store because you'd be wasting your money, and possibly endangering your cat - stores aren't licensed to sell the chemicals that are appropriate for flea treatment.

Get advantage or front line....vets and some pet store carry it. TRUST ME ITS WORTH IT. Flea collars only work around the neck. If the cat is inside you need to treat the house or you will be wasting all your time and money. The other meds dont do a great job and you will just keep buying it over again. Its well worth it to just buy the good stuff and treat the house and be done. Its like 29.99 where I live...not including the flea bomb I used...or you can go with carpet and upholstry spray
Both of those kill other pests too as the chic above me mentioned

Why do some cats (animals) have fleas and others don't. It all comes down to the foundation on which their immune system is built.
The natural way, is the most preferred and raw garlic with a pinch of lecithin not only keeps them parasite free but also provides an excellent coat.
Once a year, when needed you can do a three month programme course which you now can get from a local chemist. A vet also provides this product with or without prescription.
Never buy flea repellents from Supermarkets as they are full of toxins and can be dangerous, besides not very effective.

Revolution...it's only available through your vet but it kills fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and heart worms. It's like $12 for a tube that lasts a month.
