I know cats choose where they want to live. I've always had at least 2 moggies since the day I was born, now my parents have five and me and my bf have one. He was hanging around when we moved in, we thought maybe he was next door's. He was not - we asked, we gave them the option of claiming him. He then chose to come and live with us, so we named him, gave him a collar and did the necessaries. But, the neighbours are taking him in of an evening, so we can't spend time with him, and he's not eating his food (Whiskas), which he normally loves. I know the neighbours are taking him in because I've caught them letting him out. They had him in til 1am, by which time we had gone to bed, they kicked him out, meaning he was stuck outside in the cold all night - the lady's husband was on a night shift, so I guess she wanted the company. But so did I! What can I do? He comes running straight back to us when they let him out so it's not like he's moved house or anything. It's frustrating,

Tell your neighbour straight out that it is your cat. Point out that they had their chance to claim it but chose not to. You have made the financial commitment so they should get their hands off!
It doesn't sound as if you have a friendship with them so you have nothing to lose but you have a cat to gain.
Put that foot down and tell them how it is.I'm sure that if the cat needs any expensive treatment in the future they wont be rushing round offering to contribute.

When you let your cat outside it is the neighborhood's cat. Not yours. If it wants to go in their yard and you have no way of preventing it there is nothing you can do. I doubt they want your cat. There are too many cats in the world and not enough homes. It doesn't matter if it's a siamese. If anything they are feeding it treats because they feel bad for it. Big deal. As for what's going on right now, when a cat is outside it can die or get lost very easily. That is the reason outdoor cats don't live long at all. To all of you going along with this "stealing" idea, they wouldn't let the cat in and out of their yard. They would grab it and be done. They wouldn't allow you to hear it in there yard over and over again. Get real people.

tell your neighbour you would be greatful if she didnt let your cat in her house. tell her you go to bed at a certain time and cant let the cat in during the night. mention to her that because the cat was in her house until the early hours of the morning, the poor cat was stuck outside all night without food. hopefully she will understand :)

Keep your cat indoors. It is safer for him and you won't have to worry about the neighbors, fleas, or having him get run over by a car.
