My cat became severely ill after eating one of the brands of tainted cat food. He eventually got a little better, but then suddenly got sicker than what he was before. This past Friday he died as a result of kidney failure. My family is trying to figure out where we can file a claim regarding this issue. Thanks in advance.

Friskies is a Purina brand. Purina is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nestlé S.A., Avenue Nestlé 551800 Vevey, Switzerland.

The North American headquarters for Nestlé Purina is located in St. Louis, MO. Toll free Nestlé USA 1-800-225-2270, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST. On the web at http://www.purina.com/us/home.asp.

I couldn't find any evidence of a recall for Friskies. They are not on the list of recalls with the FDA.

Here's the link the the Food and Drug Administration. It lists all of the recalled brands and has a link to file a complaint.

Very sorry to hear about your cat. Good luck to you.

edit. Whiskas was not part of the recall, either.

You probably can go on line and see if there were any recalls on the particular pet food and brand and/or write or e-mail the company (the President) with your complaint. Make sure you keep a copy of your complaint and if you don't hear from them in a couple of weeks try again until you get results.
