We've been taking care of a stray kitten for about 2 weeks now, and she is about 5 weeks old or so. For the first week she always ate and was very happy, and now she is losing weight and won't drink, so I have to force feed her with the bottle. We're very worried about her...what should we do to try and help her eat, or get her energy back? We know she's sad because she was a stray and was separated from her mom.

OMG!!! i've had this same problem except i was taking care of SEVEN kittens... they had been separeted from their mother too. We brought over a friend of mine who is really good with cats and she told us to put them in a cardboard box with a big opening, give them dry and wet food, GET A VET IMMEDIATLY!!!!!!, and then see what the vet says... I hope that helps!

Take her to a vet or at least call a vet right away. The kitten could have an infection. Kittens do tend to get sick a lot. I've raised kittens who have gone thru having many nasty upper respiratory infections which scared the crap out of me but they turned out just fine. Definitely seek the advice of a vet.

Definitely take kitty to the vet. In the meantime, please make sure you are feeding her cat milk not cow milk. If you don't know what I am talking about just go to any pet store and ask for help. No it's not milked from cats. It's just lactose free and nutritionally fit / made for cats. Second, try baby food but only the meats. They usually gobble that up as it is easy for kitties to eat and digest. Good luck to you and kitty.

When our baby kittens used to get sick we would
use the bottle and also give Gerber's baby food,
usually chicken or beef. That usually perked them up.
I'd also take your kitty to the vet for a thorough
checkover, to make sure she's OK.

I would give the vet a call. Hopefully she's not sick, but you might want to find out early. Sickness is easier to fight when you catch it early. Also, kitties love to play. Pick up some mice with nip in them. They are very inexpensive and you will find that they get lost very quickly. My kitty just loves those mice. That might help cheer her up. Good luck.

Ask an animal veterinarian for the best thing to do. I would continue feeding her by force if needed and play with her often to give her energy.
