Took my cat to the emergency room last night, he's not eating, very unresponsive and either threw up or expelled some kind of very dark green liquid.
ER Vet couldn't determine what was wrong with him, other than he's very dehydrated (10% according to test). They want me to "wait and see" and I was hoping a knowledgeable professional might give me a second opinion.
Tests that were given with results:
CREA 2.6
BUN 70+
PHOS 4.4
FELV- negative
FIV - negative
Glucometer 280
I was given amoxi drops to administer until they are gone, 1.5ml twice a day. Any other advice? It's Sunday so I can't get a regular vet until tomorrow.

Hi Ken - my cat is not diabetic, and that was the ER vet's first guess, so she tested him and said he was not. They gave him subcutaneous fluids and a polyflex injection, as well as giving me the amoxi drops. Right now my cat will not eat anything and only takes a few sips of his water.

I've read over all the paperwork they gave me and I don't see anything about ketones listed.

Hi all, thanks so much for your response, no I don't think it was anything he ate. He's not a garbage cat, and even if he were I keep my garbage locked & lidded, there are no chemicals in my house that are green like that, and he is an indoor only cat, so it wouldn't be something he got from outside.

Hi
Did they at least give fluids?
Is your cat diabetic? The creatinine and bun are high as is the blood glucose. Are you giving insulin?
If your cat is diabetic and you went to emrgency, I would assume they checked for ketones. Did they?

if your cat is 10% dehyrdrated your vet should have rehydrated him. You don't 'wait and see' where dehydration is concerned in animals. Amoxi drops are liquid anti biotics. Being dehydrated your animal won't want to eat and if your cat does, it would be a fair chance that he will develop diaroeah and become more dehydrated and so it becomes a viscious cycle. Dehydration also causes lethargy in animals. What has his faeces been like? Is it normal colour or different? diaroeah or firm? Is your cat drinking a lot of water? Don't give milk!
Just a note on rehydration fluid - it replaces electrolytes (body salts) and is necessary if your animal is vomiting amounts of fluid or has diaroeah and is the same fluid that is given to humans through a drip. Also dehydration is not good for animals as there is not enough fluid in their bodies to enable correct kidney function.

After saying all that ... think back and try to remember what your cat has eaten. If you let your cat go outside has it eaten a plant or leaf etc that might be noxious .? When you take your cat to the vet try to take a faeces or urine sample.

edited - i answered to your first post only i see that your vet subcut him ... that's good and a start. Try and give cooled boiled water if he'll take it ... but do try to get a faeces and urine sample ...it could be invaluable for the vet.

Sorry I'm not a vet, but for what it's worth... he hasn't ingested anything poisonous, has he? some plants i.e. lilies are very toxic to cats and can cause a few of the symptoms you listed.

"The first signs of toxicity are vomiting, depression and loss of appetite." http://www.wnca.com.au/Lilies%20toxic%20Malik.htm

Hope it helps, and I hope your cat gets better!

I'm sorry to read about your cat being sick. All you can do is wait. I hope your cat will be alright. Good Luck!
