When you get your cat microchipped is it bad for it to move out of between the shoulder blades?

One of my cats had her microchip migrate to the base of her ribcage. I actually didn't know what it was, so I took her to the vet to have the "lump" checked. She is a really old cat now. She was microchipped a long time ago. Chips still migrate, but your cat's chip probably won't migrate as far as the older chips did/do.

Some can migrate, but usually they only go down the leg a bit. The scanners are waved over the entire area so even if it does migrate it can still be found. It's put into a muscle layer usually, so won't shift.

They usually don't move far as they should have been planted in the fatty tissue. If yours is moving then it is directly beneath the skin and not anchored properly. It will still work and shouldn't cause problems so long as it doesn't migrate into the intestinal area.

Just to be sure, I would make a call to your vet and ask them... but as far as I know from online information.. it is fine.

I dunno that Microchipping Cats is a good idea as I heard it's medically dangerous for them.
