My cat is a solid 26lbs and he is not fat at all. I got him as a kitten off of craigslist, and the owner sped off, happy to get rid of him, and I have not been able to contact the owner.

I would like to know what breeds of cat tend to be larger, and also aggressive/mean.

He is definitely mixed, but the largeness comes from somewhere.

..and all of a sudden e started licking his paw and went upstairs, and he hasnt stopped for 5 minutes. I looked at it with a flashlight and it looks like he has a little pink sore on one of the little black pads on his paws, about the size of a nickel. is this something to be worried about, what is it, what should I do, should we take him to the vet..........???

I bought some of that double-sided sticky tape to keep my cats from scratching my sofa. How long do I need to leave it on there before my cats will figure out that they shouldn't scratch the furniture?

My cat at home (parent's house) I've had for 10 years, I miss her daily.
However, one thing I don't like despite her many quirks is her odd habit of trying to run through your legs while your going down the stairs. (Have tripped and fallen couple of times).

k. heres the scoop. im moving by car & moving truck from florida to new york 1,200 miles, 24 hours if i could actually drive straight thru, but i cant. lets say 30 then?
but....
i have 3 cats. i cant stick them into 3 cat carriers for 30 hours, they will need a litter box, and food, and to move (have you seen the size of those cat carriers)
ok, so, dog crate sounds good right? i could put them all in a crate, with a litter box, food, maybe a blanket and what ever.
but here lies the major problem.
pet crates are not made to fit in the back of a car. even if they are long enough, they are too high to fit in my little sedan, on the pulled down seats.
wighth doesnt matter though. so, i think im going to have to custom build them a cage for the back of the car.
but out of what?.even if i could weld (cant) i wouldnt know where to get those bars. and ive seen some in mesh, but they would rip that fast. ideas?? get creative. im no fool, i can build something. but out of what?

I have just switched his food to the stupid expensive kind that is made just for hairballs. I have gotten laxitone from the vet- no good. The vet also gave him de-wormer medicine-and that worked for like a day- I have even spent money on the treats you can get from pets mart, and still, nothing- but gross black hairballs. Anyone else have any home remedies or other tricks I can maybe try to get this insanity to stop!!! He barfs at least once a day, a couple piles at a time- and I am sick of cleaning it up!! and I am sure it is not too healthy for him either.

I've raised Dega since he was 1 week old, he was raised with another cat (Pita) and a dog (the dog is gone now). He's almost a year old. Both cats are fixed.

About a month ago he started acting.....meaner. The cats have always done the play-fighting, but now it seems like Dega is really trying to hurt the other one. (I spray him with water, but 2 seconds later he chewing on Pita again)

He's also started this thing where he jumps onto the corner of a wall and slides down, scraping paint off as he goes. He also does that to the door frame and has tore up the weatherstripping.

I'm going to get both of them declawed (could that help with the behavior?)

He just started chewing on wires too.

I'll take him to the vet if I need to, but I don't want to spend all that money just to find out it's normal.

There's a weird smell in my new apartment, and I know that the previous resident had a cat. If the odor was cat urine on the hardwood floors, what would it smell like?

He started getting it a year or so ago, and it's like it's growing. We're affraid it's dangerous, but he seems to be well in every other way, and he doesn't seem to be bothered by it.

I have a two year old short-hair neutered male cat. I leave out dry food all day for him and water. A few times a day I feed him wet canned food. He is not overweight, he is actually in really great physical condition for eating so much. But anyways, since January, my sister and I noticed that his tail gets fat and bushy when we go to feed him the canned food or even pet him in the kitchen area. The last cat i had was very small and when she would get a fat bushy tail it seemed like it was because she was scared. But for my male cat, it seems like his tail gets aroused when we give him canned food. Can someone please tell me why or what do you think? thanks!!

I have a got cat of nearly five years old, she has always used her litter tray as she isnt really an out door cat as she will only go out when the weather is warm or dry, the problem is all of a sudden she has started to wee in the living room and in the bedrooms, she has occassionaly done this before but only once or twice and she stops as soon as she is shouted at. first we started locking her out of the living room while we wernt in or at night and now she has started weeing in the spare bedroom we have had to start locking her in the kitchen all night which i dont think is fair on her as cats like to roam but it the only thing i can think of at present to stop her from doing it all over the house.
to be honest she is a very spoilt cat as she was hand reared and i have always spoilt her but now her behaviour is getting out of control. she was spayed when she was 6 months old.
she only wees she does the other in her tray
can any one help

I am going to get my cat put to sleep. i am worried that the vet might sell him to animal research like in the movie Beetoven.
Is there any truth to what is in that movie??

Also, I would like to know if my cat's body will convulse and twist from the shot like i've heard that human bodys do.

There is a cat that comes to my house about every day, he is very friendly. Earlier I was outside playing with the cat and it ate some pine needles off of a small branch on the ground. Is this bad for the cat? Will he be okay?

I recently moved back in with my parents who have a Zhi-Tsu who thinks she's bigger and badder than she is. My cat was homeless when I got her however very affectionate and mild-mannered and became used to being treated like a queen. The dog keeps her confined to my room and sometimes she actually goes into my room just to torment my cat. What can I do to socialize these two so we can all live in peace? I'm a little desperate because my kitty is used to having the run of the house and I imagine that now she must feel like a prisoner with the dog standing gaurd.

He has taken to smoking my Dad's pipe of an evening, and has taken over the best armchair (he is currently reading Middlemarch and so is sat there for the best part of the day). He has also starting wearing my reading glasses which is quite annoying as I need them to study, and after numerous scrapes with the dog next door I have caught him trying to pick the lock on my gun cabinet.

He is the gentleman of the house as he is always opening the door for my mother and taking off his hat when he comes in from work, although my dad is annoyed that he has taken to wearing his best tweed jacket; the cat may think it looks smart but it's much too big. More annoying still is the fact that he is learning Hungarian off of an audiotape and the machine keeps us awake way in to the early hours.

He has now developed a nose for fine brandy and is getting paw marks all over our best crystal, as well as tobacco stains. He is also annoyed over the fact I won't let him borrow the car.

Help?!

We have a female cat who is waking us up in the night, asking to be fed. We tried feeding her just before we go to bed, and we leave dry food in the bowl. Nothing works.
We asked around and we had an idea to adopt another kitten, in the hope that she will have company, so she won't get bored at night, and therefore won't wake us up. Anyone with experience out there? Is this going to work?
