Cats - March 2007

We own our own home, but unfortunately have to move out of it because it has too many issues that can't be fixed without pouring more money into the house than it's worth. We are looking for an apartment, but ALL of the apartments I have looked at say NO PETS allowed. We have one very well trained cat that has his front paws declawed (he was that way when we got him) and is neutered. I can see not allowing cats with claws that would tear up carpet, drapes, etc, but you wouldn't think it would be so hard to find ONE apartment that allows a small cat. Why are so many landlords so against having pets in their properties? Don't they know that pets are part of people's families? It would be like telling me I can't have my son or something. We have to be out of this house within 6 months and I'm afraid I won't be able to find a decent place to live. We have looked at houses for rent too, and they all have no pet policies.

I have an 18mo cat from a shelter. We have had her for about 10 weeks. Initially we kept her inside and used a litter tray. She used her tray with no problems but about 3wks ago she peed on our spare bed for some reason. We scrubbed it away and presumed she'd been shut in there. A few days later she did it again so everything got washed again and we decided it was time to let her out in the garden, so we shut the spare room up to stop her getting in and put her out. She loves that and has started doing her business outside, however a few days ago, someone left the spare door open and she went straight back and peed on the bed.

Does anyone know any tried and tested methods of stopping this? She doesn't do it on any other beds and is a really good kitty apart from this.

We have two cats, brother and sister, eleven years old. We've just moved house (my parents felt it was time to downsize) and the cats were put in to a shelter whilst we moved everything.

Now the house is up together and they've been here a fortnight. At the old house they rarely vomited and always went to the toilet in the garden (never needing training). However at the new house they seem to have changed from very outdoorsy cats in to liking the indoors more; is this usual?

Also they seem to be vomiting indoors on occasion and sometimes going to the toilet on the floor (we've now put a litter tray down in case). Whilst I know cats need time to adjust it has been over a fortnight now, and they're still at it- is this normal?

Thanks!

My cat is 10 and fixed and recently began to 'love' a stuffed puppy my kids have. He humps it like crazy the minute he sees it. This is a new behavior; why is he doing it??

No kids here Cat not allowed outdoors and he don't want to go out either. I took him in to the vet and he needed surgery. We don't have a clue as to what may have happened. vet said that the damage was simuliar to what they see when something falls on the tail or slammed in the door, he said it don't take much to break the tail. I had cats my whole life and never expierienced this. Well, now he is done with his antibiotics and now he sems to be sick, if I feed him cat food or a full portion of it, he will puke it all up. We put news paper under him so he knows puking on it is good. He trys to do that. This just started and I am taking him into the vet today. His tail will be bandaged up for one more week. Has anyone else been through this? I was wondering if maybe an infection set in or something. I boiled white meat chicken breast and shredded it and only gave him a touch of it and gave him more as the night went on so it would stay down. Any simular stories?? Thanks

I know there have been similar questions to this but my circumstances are different.

My cat Leo, is 5 yrs old, we got him from a friend who had a 3 yr old grand daughter she often, pulled his tail and so forth, (I'm saying this to help you answer)

On with the point, when my cat is in one of the most beautiful affectionate moods, he has a habit, of suddenly turning around and biting or scratching, whom ever he is been nice to, he has also done this to me and my father, (we are his favourites) then ten minutes later he will come back, and be all nice as though nothing happened.

Is my cat emotionally scarred from when he was a kitten, or since he does it to the people he trusts?
Or is it possible he has some sort of mental disorder?

By the way, He is half siamese, and when he bites or scratches it is not playing as he usually always draws quite a bit of blood.

any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have so much kittens, like they want to give away free? I just want 1

I really want cute cat. it has to be white with another different colour - such as white and grey, white and ginger or all white.

And i t must have pink nose. Female cat preferred

NOT white and black cat.

I looked in local shelter and am sorry but they are not the one i want.

If not, how much are the kittens, and where can i buy it from, somewhere cheap?
(yes i am willing to look after it always, even if it falls il)

thanks all
