Ohhhh kitties pur to each other. I have three cats who will curl up with each other and groom each other and they'll be purring their little hearts out.

We don't really understand why cats purr. We don't even understand exactly how they purr. We assume it is a means of communication. Cats purr when content or when stressed. Because of this, some Vets believe that purring is communicating "I am not a threat. Please don't hurt me." This purring is for other cats as well as people.

yes, cats usually purr when they are happy. I've heard many a kitten purring when they are feeding from mum.

Although cats can purr when they are in pain.

Well if they are two females no. Visa versa for males. In a litter though I have heard and seen all the kittens purring as one group. Whether that is because mama was just there or not, is yet to be decided! I would think they would, since they show each other affection when two cats come from the same litter.

Good luck!

Yes. It design is to calm themselves and other cats. When I had cats they would always purr around the other cats.

yeah, i have 3 cats (two 10mo old litter mates m & f, one older male) and whenever the two younger ones see the older one walk by they purr and run up to him. & they all purr when they cuddle, or when the 2 little ones 'nurse' on the older one.

Hi!

Cats purr to humans, each other, and their mommies to let them know that they are ok :-)

Cats even purr when they are playfighting! Check out this very very very sweet video on youtube!

Cats purr when they're overly stressed sometimes, in which case they might "purr" at each other... and kittens purr when they are nursing...

However, I don't think they purr to each other on a regular basis.

They pur to us as well as each other. In fact they sometimes even pur when they are alone (or think they are). They pur both when they are content and in terrible pain. I noticed the latter when I attempted to rescue a cat that had been hit by a car. Even though it had multiple broken bones, it layed there purring in the middle of the road as it was dying. In my opinion I find that purring is similar to the human fetal position phenomenon. I've noticed that Humans also tend to assume the fetal position both when content (spooning/cuddling), as well as when they are dying of traumatic injuries.
