No kids here Cat not allowed outdoors and he don't want to go out either. I took him in to the vet and he needed surgery. We don't have a clue as to what may have happened. vet said that the damage was simuliar to what they see when something falls on the tail or slammed in the door, he said it don't take much to break the tail. I had cats my whole life and never expierienced this. Well, now he is done with his antibiotics and now he sems to be sick, if I feed him cat food or a full portion of it, he will puke it all up. We put news paper under him so he knows puking on it is good. He trys to do that. This just started and I am taking him into the vet today. His tail will be bandaged up for one more week. Has anyone else been through this? I was wondering if maybe an infection set in or something. I boiled white meat chicken breast and shredded it and only gave him a touch of it and gave him more as the night went on so it would stay down. Any simular stories?? Thanks

You might want to check your area for a chiropractic vet. They might have been able to help with the tail issue. My cat got a broken tail and I have no idea how it happed either. I figure she was rushing through a door and someone didn't see her. There have been no major issues from it.

Get your baby checked out as soon as you can. It could be an infection like you suspect or a reaction to the antibiotics. It could also be a reaction to the surgery which is what I suspect.

You are correct to feed the cat just boiled chicken. This is fine for a day or two and will help to settle an upset tummy. Make sure to use the broth in the bowl also. You must get fluids in the cat. Put out extra water too. If cold water makes the problem worse, then use only room temperature water.

If the vet can't find anything wrong and this problem continues, you will have to take further steps. I would try a clay detox. This is an edible clay that you can mix with food or put in the water bowl. It flushes out the system and will often stop intestinal problems in a few hours. You can get it at most health food stores or online. The name is terramin / nutramin. Here is a link with more info http://www.thepetalternative.com/nutramin.html

There are a few herbs and suppliments that are safe to use for pet vomiting. The correct one depends on the situation however. Here is a great book you might be able to find at your library. http://www.amazon.com/Homeopathic-Care-Cats-Dogs-Animals/dp/155643295X/ref=sr_1_5/103-1302313-5638209?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173981157&sr=1-5

Good luck. Feel free to contact me if I can give you more information.

Why did you give him surgery? We had a couple cats break their tails and just left it- the cat had a lump in the tail and it was a little sensitive for a while, but no worse for the wear.
Puking is not good. Either his stomach is reacting to a too strong of antibiotic dogs, or something else.
Infections: you would feel a very hot swollen spot around the wound. Just try to stick your finger in the bandage and see if it feels warmer than everywhere else on his body. Infections are usually more pain though than causing actual vomiting.

Either way, constant vomiting and not being allowed to eat is not a good thing. Call the vet. He may be able to prescribe some anti-nausea pills or lower the dosage so your guy can eat.

The cat is in discomfort. Get him right into a room and close the door. Use a tub towel to obtain him, wrap him up in it with the tail out, and carry his physique decrease than your arm or between your knees to apply the two palms to get the capture off. If the tail is bent, meaning the bones are broken and you'd be able to desire to get the vet to income how undesirable the wear is. do no longer anticipate the tendons and bones are ok. Tail injuries are quite painful for cats. i wish you talk to the three twelve months previous approximately this.

His vomiting may be a side effect from the antibiotic. Good to hear that your are taking your kitty back to the vet. They will know for sure.
