My cat is 10 and fixed and recently began to 'love' a stuffed puppy my kids have. He humps it like crazy the minute he sees it. This is a new behavior; why is he doing it??

He thinks it real and wants to make sure he wants him to know he is in charge. Too cute.

My fixed male cat (fixed at 6 months, he started this around 6 yrs) used to hump my leg while I was sleeping. Needless to say, I would kick my leg up and he would fly off the bed. Enough times and he finally quit it.
I am not sure why he did it, but it sure is not for dominance to my lower leg.
Just keep yelling at him and pulling him off of the dog- he will see it isn't worth it soon enough.

Cats (and dogs) even though 'fixed', will 'hump' to show dominance---really has nothing to do with sex.
A stuffed animal shouldn't threaten your cat, but maybe he just wants to show dominance over something.

He must just love it. Sometime we humans also like something and have a favourite. Cats do that too. My 6months old kitten just love one particular soft toy. And she has so many and she picks only one and play with it all the time. I have to wash it so often becoz she bites it and carries everywhere. She goes crazy looking for it. So every time I wash it I have to tell her and she sometimes sits there and wait it to be dried. Sound crazy but she is not crazy. Just her favourite thing.!!!
Hope this is helpful to you.!!!
