..and all of a sudden e started licking his paw and went upstairs, and he hasnt stopped for 5 minutes. I looked at it with a flashlight and it looks like he has a little pink sore on one of the little black pads on his paws, about the size of a nickel. is this something to be worried about, what is it, what should I do, should we take him to the vet..........???

He probably tripped or stepped on something sharp. He should be okay as long as he's not bleeding and nothing is actually stuck in his paw. If he seems like he's in pain later through the day or keeps licking his paw then you may want to get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

I have a 4- month old Golden Retriever.
I would wait a couple of days, unless he seems to be in severe pain, or if the symptoms get worse/ swell up. Take him to a vet if it doesn't clear up. If you can simply call your vet and tell him the symptoms, he probably can tell you the best advice on this one.
Good luck, I am sure you and your dog will be fine!

If he is licking it excessively, you should take him to the vet. The more he licks, the more raw it is going to get. Sometimes it becomes an obsession with them and they won't stop licking, which in turn causes it to not heal. Have it checked out to be safe.

It is probably nothing to worry about...maybe he had an itch there and was biting it causing the sore or maybe he stepped on something. But just incase you should probably call or go to the vet to get it checked out ..i know i would just want to makae sure my dog was okay...good luck! and i hope your dog is okay :)

Wait a few days - it could be harmless, but if it does not improve after 3-4 days then it might be advisable to take him to the vet.

I say take him to the vet - I mean it is better to be safe than sorry.

And you wouldn't want an infection to start or for the sore to get any bigger or anything like that.

So yeah, I'd take him to the vet.

Yes I think you should take it to a vet just in case, it could just be a blister but it is better to be safe then sorry.

You shouldn't worry. My dog has that and he is fine! But just in case my dog was a stray so just take it to the vet. Just to check.
