I recently moved back in with my parents who have a Zhi-Tsu who thinks she's bigger and badder than she is. My cat was homeless when I got her however very affectionate and mild-mannered and became used to being treated like a queen. The dog keeps her confined to my room and sometimes she actually goes into my room just to torment my cat. What can I do to socialize these two so we can all live in peace? I'm a little desperate because my kitty is used to having the run of the house and I imagine that now she must feel like a prisoner with the dog standing gaurd.

That dog thinks it's the pack leader.
You have to show the dog your the pack leader, then it will leave your cat alone.

You definately need the Dog Whisperer! Maybe you could put a kid gate up in the bedroom doorway so they could get acquainted and remain separated at the same time. Once the cat sticks her claws in the dog a couple of time, the dog should learn some manners. Good luck, you'll need it.

merely deliver the kitten abode. carry it on your lap and enable the canines sniff and spot. The canines would be curious, the kitten would be terrified and useful hiss. inspire the canines to 'be soft - do no longer you injury the little kitten'. If the kitten seems distressed positioned it in a room devoid of the canines so as that it gets use to that room for a quick jointly as. see you later because of the fact the canines would not tutor any sign of aggression it is going to likely be secure to enable it into the room to confirm the kitten decrease than supervision. they'll artwork it out for themselves. merely be useful to maintain an eye fixed on them until they get use to a minimum of one yet another and the canines replaced into there first. you do no longer opt for it to get jealous so make a fuss over it and feed it first etc.

Personally, I will punch out the dog so he's afraid to roam around looking for her. Do it without your parents knowing.

put the dog on a fairly long leash and put a chair leg through the loop where you would put your hand.
