My family and I just got a new kitten (6mths). She just recent got spay. We brought her home and now she stays under the bed unless someone is in the bedroom with her. And at night she gets in bed with My girlfriend and I. The kitten knows where her food and water is but just wont walk around the house.

Has anyone ever heard of cat scratch disease? How harmful is it to a person? And what about the cat, does it mean my cat is sick if someone got it from her?

My 2 cats, kind of live in the front room. That's where they sleep.

Problem is, when i go into the room, they run and hide under the table where i can't get to them.

I haven't done anything to them, i'm not cruel to them, so why are they doing this?

Last Wednesday she was spayed, she was on Metacam for 3 days. In the morning and at night she seems to go back to normal but she's only eating her wet food, not her dry, and drinking water at night. During the day she lays around and drools (smelly drool from the medicine) and hasn't given herself a bath.

Our vet said we could give her more Metacam if we felt she was in pain, but I don't want to make her more drugged up than she already is. He also said that cats and dogs drool when they have a bitter taste in their mouth. She's also smacking her mouth a lot (like when people taste something sour).

When can I expect her to return to normal and start bathing again?

I have a kitten who will soon be a cat (she's 10 months old) and she follows us everywhere...including out the door. Most mornings, I'm able to give her some food and she eats while I sneak out the door. But soon I'll be starting a new job and will be leaving later, meaning that she'll have eaten by the time I leave. This morning she followed me out and it was a mess; I nearly threw her back in the door while trying to juggle my bags and keys. Help! How do I get the kitten to stay??

My family has seven house katz. Our house is very clean, the litter boxes are kept scooped, our katz are bright eyed and bushy tailed, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, they've all come from various abusive and or torture situations. They are happy and well cared for. So, this little kitten was tossed out of a car on the Interstate, broken leg, skinned up and terrified, so OF COURSE, the shelter called us to see if we have room for one more. Finances aren't the issue, nor is time. He's just a schmoopie, bony little thing, all long hair and whiskers. We can't foster anymore because we end up becoming attached. If we keep this kat, will that make us hoarders or just big hearted people? And do we really NEED 8 katz, or do the 8 katz need us? What would you do?

My cat is an indoor out door cat. He loves going outside, but about a month ago he came in and he had a one inch mark on his rear where all the fur had been taken off and the skin had been hurt as if it were burnt or cut badly. It wasn't exactly like a bite mark or anything it seemed almost like a burn of some sorts. He got better after a few days and he really had no problems except he scared more easily. Now recently we noticed he has another mark this time on his abdamon between his legs there is a large spot of mising fur but there is only a small scratch but it is a little deep. The two wounds are very different except they both have hair removed from the areas. What could be causing this, he is crying so much for us to let him outside but we don't want to until we feel he is safe.

I cant take her to the vet right now.... its night time here in australia.
so i was hoping someone here could help.
My chinchilla/himalayan kitten is 3 months old.
I wormed her with worming paste just around an hour or so ago. I gave her the correct dose for her age...
She just ran into my bathroom and did a huge vomit on the floor....
My question is.... was it the wormer that made her throw up???
Do you think I will need to worm her again, or did she have time to digest it??
OR... could it have been the new catfood i am trialing her on, which is a furball formula. She has only been eating it as of today....
any vet techs or people with this kind of experience are welcome to answer my question...
Thank you.

I have a 6 year old female cat, she is spayed. A few weeks ago possibly a month I brought home a 6 week old kitten. After a week or 2 my dog was fine with it but my older cat just growls at the cat and hisses because the little one chases her around (I assume trying to play) My older cat stands her grounds for a while then runs outside. How should I help them start getting along? Am I doing anything wrong and if so what? The kitten isnt spayed.

Our oldest cat is about 11 or 12 years old, a couple of months ago she started pooping in my mom's bath tub. The first couple of times we dismissed it because we thought maybe the litter box was getting to dirty for her. But then she just kept on doing it, my mom started letting water sit in the tub so she wouldn't get in it and it worked, but then she started going to our main bath and doing it in there. It always happens at night, so we close the shower door so she couldn't get in the tub. Well then she started going right next to the tub, I don't really know what made her start doing this unless she's just mad because of the two other cats we have, which one is about 7 and the other is 1, so they are staggered and it's not like she's had a lot of new cats at once. We haven't moved or had anything going on inside the house that might make her mad. I'm starting to wonder if it's just old age. But I really would like to know how to get it to stop.

I usually have egg whites for breakfast and feel bad about throwing the yolk away. I have a run-of-the-mill black cat that loves scraps and I usually throw away 3 to 4 hard boiled yolks a day. I have also heard that yolks can give cats a shiny coat and I figure it can't be that bad but im no expert. Can anyone weigh in on this?
