Hi Emily Jane...for deterring inappropriate cat behaviour around electrical wires consider using a cable wire loom to bundle up the the wires. The loom is very inexpensive and not only does it prevent the cat from tangling in the wires, but also tidies the area up as well. Cable Organizer Wire Loom: http://cableorganizer.com/wire-loom/
For the wires that are difficult to bundle consider using a pet-friendly deterrent spray-on product called Grannick's Bitter Apple® http://www.grannicks.com . It is a citrusy scent that once a cat tastes will generally avoid those areas which have that particular odour.

There is a spray at Petsmart that should repulse your cat from further chewing; spray on the wires. You might also just try placing a few moth balls near the wires, or Tabasco (sprinkle on cotton balls and place by the wires). Another idea is to wrap the wires with double sided duck tape (sticky part on both sides). Then, perhaps buy just some small, plastic tubing for a 'toy'; that way he can still satisfy his chewing urge. (There are also cord 'organizers' and tubing which you can cover your cords with, but these are pricey for doing a whole household.)

Very firmly tell your kitten NO! Remove him from the area, mine did the same but I have given her a scratching post and plenty of toys to keep them occupied. I sprayed some Hairspray on the wires as the chew deterrent did not work. But 3 months later my wires are safe, that I know of. Good Luck!!

For the time being, unplug things that may be within his reach when you're not there. When you're there and he starts chewing, pick him up and say'No,No,No' firmly. You'll have to do it a few times they'll get the idea. Mine did the same thing for a while. So until I had him trained, I just unplugged any long cords that were visible. Good luck.

My rabbit does that all the time, so I place any wires hanging down somewhere out of reach and put wrap thick tape around others. I also give him other toys and things to chew on to distract him.

learn to discipline your cat. I have five cats all of who are very well behaved. when your cat does something wrong shout loudly, using clear one to two syllabal words. words such as "no!" or "off!". then gently but firmly remove them from the wires. and repeat so it gets to their head. remember, to treat them when they do things right. sometimes a gentle pat on their paws when they touch the wires can tell the cat that its wrong. you can also try using a spray bottle of water that makes a hissing spraying noise. everytime just spray the water in the air and they will associate the hissing with doing bad things, therefore not doing it again.
good luck!

Cats don't like the scent of citrus so run an orange slice down the length of the cords. Tobassco sauce works, too. And you can buy cat repelent at the pet store that you just spray on.

Bad kitty!!! Seriously, maybe it should not be allowing to roaming around the house. Outside is very good to training this kitty. Until it knows to behave itself, maybe this kitty could come in. Most cats love fresh water and food. Make sure you have them in the house for this cat, when it would come in sometime. My cat is a well trained cat now because I was very firm to her when she was a kitty. She use a doggy door with my dogs to go in and out. She loves to be out better because her instinct and her nature is to be outside. She has more things to do there. I wouldn’t declaw her. She come in for food and fresh water. I always keep up with her heath by taking her to visit the veterinarian for shots and check up. She is a happy cat and I am happy for her.

give him toys to play with. get a good chew deterent to ward off the temptation. or you could wire up a 9 volt battery and let him chew it. it wont hurt but it may be enough to put him off. and no i'm not a sick or cruel person.
