My family has seven house katz. Our house is very clean, the litter boxes are kept scooped, our katz are bright eyed and bushy tailed, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, they've all come from various abusive and or torture situations. They are happy and well cared for. So, this little kitten was tossed out of a car on the Interstate, broken leg, skinned up and terrified, so OF COURSE, the shelter called us to see if we have room for one more. Finances aren't the issue, nor is time. He's just a schmoopie, bony little thing, all long hair and whiskers. We can't foster anymore because we end up becoming attached. If we keep this kat, will that make us hoarders or just big hearted people? And do we really NEED 8 katz, or do the 8 katz need us? What would you do?

There are agencies that will help you with the medical bills for the cat. (the expenditures have to be pre approved by them) Once the cat is all medically ok, then is the time to find it a good home. It is true that you are really good people to adopt these cats with problems not of their causing, but you can't afford to spread yourself too thin because the cats you have need and love you.

I think it's awesome that you foster cats and give some of them a great home. I'd say it makes you big hearted. I'm a sucker for stray animals and am always trying to help them, but I don't have the room for that right now, and my husband always has a lil sigh every time I bring a stray home because he knows I get attached very easy as well. As for the 8th cat, no one ever really NEEDS anything, the question should be as to whether you want to, and are able to. I say if you have the room, then go for it.

I would see if there is someone else that could keep it and if not, keep it myself. I have a soft spot for cats. I started out with 2 female cats that were indoor/outdoor and they ended up pregnant. By the time they had weened the babies and we could get them fixed, they were pregnant again. This was an ongoing problem and we ended up with over 30 cats/kittens in our house, all indoor then. I don't think it's necessarily that you need the cats, but they need someone to love and care for them. Just remember that there is a limit to how many you can care for and give them all enough attention. does this help at all, I hope??

I'd take it in. Good on you for looking after cats that need help, because so so so many kittens are put down each year because there's no people like you who care about them, so I think you should keep it, even though eight is a large number and if you local council finds out you could be in trouble.
Oh and spell it 'cats' I didn't really know what you were talking when I first read your question.

If you have room and want to, foster the little guy. He doesn't need to be in a situation where he isn't getting what he needs. If you already provide a good home for all those kitties, good for you. It won't make you a bad person to not accept the last one-he may need more than you can provide. You're just looking out for everyone's best interest.

If you adequate room and they have all the essentials to live a good life with you then there is nothing wrong with that. It would depend on where you live and if they have a law against having that many pets. You don't want animal control to come and take your cats and have a terrible end to their wonderful life with you.
You are great for saving so many lives and I wish we had more people like you in this world for I think we need more compassionate people like you to make this a better place to live.

The cats need you, and you could just be foster parents, get the kitten well and socialised, then pass him on to a good home, start asking around if anyone out there that you know would like to take him from you. be strong and don't get emotionally attached, difficult I know, but it can be done, and you could give him the love and affection he needs right now.

Get it doctored up then advertise it in the paper. If no luck in the paper, call the Humane Society to see if there is another volunteer that would foster it. You might want to call the shelter back and tell them to remove your number from the list for a while due to your situation. Good luck!

I know what you mean. I used to take in the animals from the complex I live in. Some boys I knew, they used to bring me all the animals that were hurt, or people no longer wanted them. This is just how it all got started. And how I also learned to give they up. Well some of them... So I started with one. This one my dad got me for a b-day persent. She was 4 mouths old. she was 7 years old when I ment this girl. I'll never forget her. She was met as hek to these poor cats. So what I did was talk her into giving me two of them. they were only 4 weeks old. They lived with me for 6 mouths before the boys came to me it was fall. They brough me 4 new born kittens. About 2 days old. So I took all for of them in. I now had 8 cats. It was a mad house. But I felt I need them. As mutch as they need me. But some of my friends came over to see what new cats I would have. I seen how well one friend got along with one of the new borns. Well it had been about 4 weeks sense they came to live with me. I than talked to my friend about talking it in after it was old enought to leave. Which I think myself is 8 weeks. I know you can at 6 weeks but these kittens were smaller than normal kittens. So then 2 other friends I knew took the other ones. They had butthead, samum, and tod. They renamed them. I had named them stop, orangey and blacky. There one that was left was the one I named cowkitty. I could not find a home for her at first because her eyre was closed like a newborns but only her left eye. The docter said nothing was wrong. So I took her in. So then my goal was to help my friend and family find a pet. I took in both cats and dogs.
So I say you should take it in and take cat of it. But once its ok try to find someone you know to take care of it. Then you can go say hi whenever your over.

Find a no kill shelter, or someone to foster this cat until it is adopted. You are very kind to adopt and take care of eight cats...but I think that is enough. Or, check out www.petfinder.com that is a pretty good website. You can even post the cat under classifieds, I think. We adopted our two cats and two dogs from that website. Good luck.
