Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.
STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

About 8 to 12 weeks they are ready to go. Our kittens are 7 weeks old and they are drinking water and eating solids. You need to socialise them and give them plenty of attention so they get used to new homes. About now you should be toilet traing them as they are ready to do their business everywhere. Pet shops wont take kittens until they are 9 weeks old.

I start introducing them to can or soft food at 6 weeks, or 4 weeks if they seem hungry after the mother feeds them. They won't be completely weaned until they are 8 weeks, but introducing food earlier makes the transition easier on them physically and emotionally. That way there is no chance of stomach upset by the food change, and they don't fight being weaned as bad because they are used to the food.
They should stay with their mother until they are at least 8 weeks. They will start the weaning process at 6 weeks and can survive without their mother at that age, but they will be stronger and healthier if you wait. They will also learn important behavior from their mother in their first 8 weeks. They learn everything from playing, using the litterbox, and general cat behavior at this time. Those receiving these precious babies will thank you for waiting.

As soon as the kittens grow out their teeth they can start trying "crunchies" (kitten food). Usually the kittens will try it, imitating their mother. Mommy cat should start weaning the kittens around 6 weeks of age, which is also the time that you can give them away. Some kittens might not like the transistion, but when thier options are limited, they'll eat the crunchies.

Kittens are usually totally weaned around 6 weeks. You should start providing softened kitten chow for them around 4-6 weeks so they will be on solids when you adopt them out. When they are litter box trained and on solid food is the best time to adopt them out. Usually around 5-7 weeks, depending on how quickly they learn to use the litter box and are totally on solid food.

Theoretically, once the kittens show their teeth, they can eat solids.

About 4 weeks for solids, also make sure you don't give them cows milk, it disagrees with them.
