I cant take her to the vet right now.... its night time here in australia.
so i was hoping someone here could help.
My chinchilla/himalayan kitten is 3 months old.
I wormed her with worming paste just around an hour or so ago. I gave her the correct dose for her age...
She just ran into my bathroom and did a huge vomit on the floor....
My question is.... was it the wormer that made her throw up???
Do you think I will need to worm her again, or did she have time to digest it??
OR... could it have been the new catfood i am trialing her on, which is a furball formula. She has only been eating it as of today....
any vet techs or people with this kind of experience are welcome to answer my question...
Thank you.

Hi there...did you suddenly switch her to the new food? If so, this would be most likely the culprit as cats, especially kittens have very sensitive digestive systems and when the food isn't gradually changed over time cats suffer serious bowel distresses such as vomiting and diarrhoea.

For more info on why you must gradually change to a new food:

DONT allow the kittens to eat that! They do just because are kids and knows nothing yet,but we all know its not healthy for them Keep them apart if you are not able to cleam immediatelly, please! Mom cat's vomit can be due to diseases or toxic products/expoiled food ingestion and eating the vomit can cause the same or even worse to the babies since they are weaker.

If she continues to vomit , you must take her to the emergency room for cats as dehydration is dangerous in baby people and animals. I would not wom her again as that may be toxic or fatal, and I ouwld not try and feed her. If she's take water, great! Otherwise, keep her in until morning and go straight away to your vet. If she starts to run a fever, go right away to vet! PS..It could be the worm medicine but having worms can also make a pet vomit too.

aw hey! I live in australia too and my kittens 3 months old! i love my kitten!

For now i think you should just monitor whether it happens again. Just make note of his eating patterns.. whether he has lost his appetite.. any change in behaviour. Check his stool too for anything like worms or any change in colour or anything! Take her to the vet tomorrow.

It could have been a number of things.. just make sure she has clean (pre-boiled) water and that he tries and take in fluids. As for the worming? talk to your vet but duh you didnt need me to tell you that.

though i wouldnt worry i dont think it was the wormer that made your kitty vomit! maybe its adjusting to the food? good luck!

Cats vomit all the time, generally it means nothing, start worrying about it if it's bloody or she does it many times in a day or something.

lol it won"t be the wormer it"s just a natural thing in cats
dogs too cats also vomit because they get fur balls which is from licking them selves to clean them.
