I found a bird on the road fairly good sized a little larger then a blue jay had a needle like beek partial red neck at the back of his head light tan with brownish v shaped marking on the wing very pretty bird the body was a very light cream tan colored with brown markings. . I took hime to abilene animal hospital the bird was very calm in my hand as if it trusted me it knew i was getting it help it was a very cold day, abilene animal hospital could not do any thing for it the, told me i needed to call game warden, then a gentalmen came and looked at the bird said it was some kind of wook pecker then the bird perked up a little flew out of my hand then it flew back to me and landed back in to my hand with out any chase as if it trusted me. I took it out side put on bush it made a squack then flew a way, UM i think it was a for the bird to thank me for saving its life not sure, but ive looked at pitchures of wood pecker and i can. see any thing that matches him any one?

I've had a young pet budgie for almost a month. He eats a lot of seeds but refuses to eat anything else. I've tried apples, pears, brocoli, spinach, melon, kiwi, parsley, carrots, cauliflower, etc..
He usually just picks it up from his 'food bowl' and throws it with disgust into the bottom of the cage. (Obviously a picky eater to say the least). I've even tried mixing a bit of seed with organic baby food but he didn't touch it. Any ideas on what to do - ?

I have 5 finches, last week (one pair in particular) were building their nest. Sunday I saw that there were 2 eggs in there. Monday another egg. They will only sit on them at night. Is something wrong with this picture? How often are they suppose 2 sit on their eggs?

My parakeets name is Pidgey. For the past three days, Pidgey has not chirped as much as he usually does and he spends his time sleeping or just grooming himself. He eats as much as he usually does and he seems to weigh as much but he just doesn't have a lot of energy. Also, I noticed that his chirps are like very high pitched squeeks.

Is there something seriously wrong with him?
Is there anything I can do?
if he has a disease, what is the exact name of the disease?

When you introduce new chickens to an established flock, there naturally is a lot of fighting. But I've heard there are ways to introduce them without all that pecking and squabbling. Any 4H members out there?

We've got a feeder and they come like crazy to get some. We'd also like to get a couple of perches for them to sit on. We'd also like to get some nesting boxes for them to breed in (we think that it would be a very fun thing to watch)

What are the best kind of perches , boxes, and other things that atract Hummerbirds?

Yesterday I found a pigeon with a broken wing in my pool (it's drained). What do I do? I'm willing to give him a week or so to try to heal, he's in a box right now on my dining room table with crackers and water. Is there any health dangers to me or my dog in keeping him around?

The cockatiels are feeding the 3 babies and the babies poop. Does the mother also clean the poop like dogs do with their puppies? How must I clean inside the nesting box. They didn't like the towling paper so I removed it after 30 minutes.

I baught this cereal at the supermarket. It's made in England, called Dorset Cereals. It's a blend of toasted cereals and the other stuff mentioned above. They mention no added salt or sugar. High in fibre, low in sodium and suitable for vegetarians. Includes wheat, malt, flame raisins, toasted and malted oat flakes, dates, sunflower seeds, toasted coconut, apricots, preservative: sulphur dioxide and roasted hazelnuts. What do you think? Yes or No?
