Birds are attracted to light, that is why they fly into windows or skylights when they are trapped in a building or a house.
What you do is cover all windows in the room that the bird is in...Open the biggest door in the room...If the door is the only source of light the bird should go right to it...If he seems to be just sitting and not leaving, GENTLY coax it towards the door with broom do not hit the bird all you want to do is scare it off of its perch... Sometimes they just are to disoriented to leave.

Killing the bird is a federal crime. The suggestions about trying to get it out the open door are good ones. The only one with bad luck in this situation is the bird!

I think you might be best served to call city hall and have them direct you to an animal removal specialist. Possibly they can suggest the most effective yet safe (for the birds) method of removal. Some cities and municipalities actually provide free services to actually conduct the removal. However. . . nowadays you might get put on a waiting list and by the time they get to you your current baby birds will be great great grandparents. Good Luck.

try closing all the blinds and turning off the lights and open the door the bird will go for the light and will get out on its own. If you dont cover the windows the bird may think that it can get out that way and fly into the glass and hurt itself. if that doesn't work call animal control dont try to catch it yourself you could hurt the bird.

the house I lived in as a child we had this problem a lot. Most of the time you can chase them out the door with a broom. One time I did have to kill one once though. to get the bird out alive, close off as many rooms as possible except for the rooms that lead to the door. wave the broom at the bird trying to herd it towards the door opening. it helps if you have 2 or more people doing this. if this doesn't work. Beat the bird to death with the broom and throw the body outside.

Opposite is true. It is good luck to have a bird in your house. She brings you tidings of great joy!
Don't kill her. Instead, open windows and doors and let her find her way out.
Good luck to you and your wonderful, lucky bird.
