I baught this cereal at the supermarket. It's made in England, called Dorset Cereals. It's a blend of toasted cereals and the other stuff mentioned above. They mention no added salt or sugar. High in fibre, low in sodium and suitable for vegetarians. Includes wheat, malt, flame raisins, toasted and malted oat flakes, dates, sunflower seeds, toasted coconut, apricots, preservative: sulphur dioxide and roasted hazelnuts. What do you think? Yes or No?

a great recipe that I use:
Birdie Bars

In a medium large mixing bowl, put one cup of Grapenuts cereal, one cup crushed Total flakes or Corn Chex. Add one egg, one small 5 oz. can of evaporated milk, 1/4 c. unsweetened applesauce, chopped dried fruits (any kind), chopped nuts, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and/or nutmeg, and 1 tbsp brown sugar and 1/2 tsp baking powder. Mix well and spoon into 9x13 baking pan sprayed with Pam. Bake for 35 min. at 350. Done when tester comes out clean. Let cool and cut into narrow bars. They are nutritious and filling and can be frozen!

"Tang Tang" EDIT: not sure why some people on here are saying that you should not feed fruits, cereals, etc etc etc.....do some research on your own and you will find out that those things are quite acceptable and better (not as a substitution) than some of the crap they sell in pet stores for treats...

As a treat it should be fine. I would pick out the sunflower seeds as those are really bad for them.

As a staple diet, you should feed 80% cockatiel pellets, 15% healthy human food including fruits and veggies, 5% seeds and treats.

Well first of all cockatiels are not fruit eaters so it may be hard to get them to eat this stuff. I personally do not feed my bird cerial of any kind. I keep them on seed and fruit pellets made for parakeets and finch with lots of millet spray. They love it and it doesn't mess up their systems. If you want them to eat that type of grains, try feeding them whole wheat or muti grain breads. They will eat the breads alot faster then anything you place in a bowl for them.

I was taught not to give my parrot anything meant for humans in the cereal line. I do give him fruit, apples, bananas, also potatoes, baked, especially sweet potatoes. But sometimes the additives in cereal can cause feather picking in birds and you don't want that.

A good quality Cockatiel food is the best for them.
