i am looking to get another bourke.

i have a female budgie now.
i was just wondering if since they're about the same size, they could breed. don't want them to. i intend to keep them in the same cage though. and if it would be safer to go with a female...but then i'm afraid they would fight and hurt each other or worse

any insight would be very helpful

I have a male and a female cockatiel. The female has been sitting on eggs and I just now found out that one hatched. I used to have two females, the one the male mated with layed eggs and hatched one. The baby grew up healthy but flew out the back door last summer. The mother had been in her nest for a few days and about a week before the baby got out she died. I don't know why. I don't want the same thing happening to the new mother. Anyone know why the first mother died? What should I do for new Mom?

She just wants to stay with me all day. She fell off her swing & hurt her foot yesterday. She is always doing that & she already has 2 broken toes from the times before. But this time she is drinking a lot of water & wants to sleep & cuddle up to me. She is a resue bird who I have had for 9years so I don't know how old she is. Her wings have always been a little painful for her & I think she hurt them when she fell too, because there is some blood on them, but I have looked carefully & can't see any sore place. I put a Hot bottle on top of her cage with plenty of blankets last night so she was warm & I have given her a drop of infant Calpol every 4hours. I wonder why she is drinking so much? I hope she is just drowsy from the Calpol, but I think that is not the case as she is sleepy now & it has been 5hours since her last drop.
I would take her vets, but her sister died under anestheic when he was examining her last year. He said bird often do that. I don't want that to happen again.

I have 2 pet chicken that lives in my side yard coop. They have started to lay eggs last week. One day, I came across an article stating chickens need to be given medicine for deworming. Is this true in all chickens? If I dont, will it affect their health?

He kicked his food out of the feeder and sat in the feeder and kept digging in the corner. He's been with us for only 3 days and on the 3rd day he seemed like he didn't even recognize that humans were in his presence. He would fluff up and stay hunched up on the bottom of the cage. He kept his head down and wouldn't react even if a hand came in the cage and touched him and the first two days he always would react.

The male has a very pale grey back, very pale peach cheek patches and flanks, and grey teardrops.

The hen is a standard Chestnut Flanked/Marked White hen (that comes from a well-marked line with deep chestnut colouring).

What will their offspring look like?

Today I woke up and I noticed a thread was tightly wrapped around my cockatiel's foot. It had come from the blanket that I lay on top of it's cage at night. The bird's foot was purple on down from where the string was knotted. Well, after a few minutes, I finally got it off. Five hours later the bird's foot was back to it's normal color but he wouldn't use it at all. Six hours after that I notice that it was extremely red and had blead. I used hydrogen peroxide to clean it and it began bleeding again. Now he only is using the un-injured leg and the nail is beginning to look like it may have fallen off. The tip of his foot is black. I am wondering what I could do or put on it. Can he die from this? What should I do with him?

I was petting my Teils head for a little while after givving him a spray bath(he loves that) and he backed up and bobed his head up and down and tried to feed my finger.
I showed joy to him for doing that, I though it was quite sweet since he was very hard to tame.
Is there anything that would be bad about this?

I've got a peach faced lovebird. Currently he's not very friendly and is extremely nippy. I think his favorite game is lets decapitate mommy's hand! I know that with lots of effort he can become a great pet. But how long was it before your bird finally took to you? and became the friendly loving animals we all know they can be?
