There are many mutations of budgies, what your describing is called Violet, there are lots though...almost a hundred mutations. It could be Violet but also be Normal, Opaline, Greywing, Dominant Pied...etc.

There so many different types of colors for budgies
last year i have more than 300 budgies i sold all my birds and i didnt have no purple budgies.
I have never saw a colorful purple parakeet, so i dont know if this color really exis for budgies.

Its normal for a budgie to have different colour cheek patches to the rest of their body colours. Purple cheek patches are normal in some types. Unless you post a photo anyone is guessing here.

Yeah we have a lilac budgie and a albino one which has bright red eyes and is completly white.
Lilac ones are quite popular in this country (england) now.

yes, but they're pale, more of a lavender color. They are very pretty and in my area of southern california, not to rare.

i saw one at the pet store once, bit it might have just been the lighting.....it was a very light purple-ish color.
