I assume you mean budgies. If you mean true parakeets this is not quite accurate, esp. the bits about times.

Go to your petshop and buy a parakeet nest box. Attach it to the cage. Leave the birds alone and if they're a pair & interested the female will start laying eggs in a week or two. If she does not come out of the nest to sleep, there's an egg in there. Eggs are layed every two days and she sits starting on the first day, so babies will be born every second day. Incubation period is 18 days. A clutch is 5-6 eggs, usually.

After two nests REMOVE THE NEST BOX. The birds will exhaust themselves by laying too many clutches otherwise.

Name your first-born keet "Meg". :)

Parakeet Nest

If by parakeets, you mean budgies then the answer is they do not build nests. Budgies in the wild are cavity nester's. This means they lay their eggs in things such as hollow logs, holes in trees and other spaces like that.

For then to nest in captivity you can provide something like a hollow log, or a commercially built nesting box. They do not line these boxes with anything. There should be a small dip in the middle of the bottom of the box to keep the eggs together.

Good luck, and do a bit more research before you decide to breed because it is along and sometimes problematic task.

Parakeets dont build nest, unless you buy a nest made out of wood were the parakeets chop and take out of wood from inside the piece of wood.
But most parakeets like myself us regular wood nest box, is the nest for parakeets and they are also easy to clean.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/b6jZD
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

Simply a wooden box with a hand full of pine shavings and they are happy

They don't need anything.
They prefer an empty wooden box.
You can get them at the pet store,
but they are really easy to make.
