I bought this expensive steel cake pan in the shape of a snowman, and I can't return it.

And it says that I have to use peanut oil or lard for dressing on it, and I happen to not have either. And the instructions says that all other oils smoke easily.

Is shortening, lard? Will shortening smoke easily?

I like to leave the lip up so all you have to do is pull out the grate to take things in and out of the oven, my family is fighting me on this saying that it must face down. I downloaded pics that show the lip up but they want normal everyday people to tell me...so, which way do your grates face - up or down?

I'm cooking one for the significant other's family. They chose the meat. I'm used to more roast friendly cuts. Most of the recipes i've seen recommend that it be cooked high and fast. But, i don't want it to be pink throughout the whole center (although some is okay).

My family is having turkey on X-mas day and I'm in charge of cooking the mash potatoe dish. I'm looking for a recipe with a "twist". Previous years, I 've added sour cream, cottage cheese, and cream cheese. Also, what spices or fresh herbs compliment a mash potatoe dish?

If anyone out there has a cookie recipe they are willing to share, I'd sure love to hear it! Weather it be sugar, chocolate chip, peanut butter, etc. I'm willing to try ANYTHING... (that doesn't include rat poision.) Well, I'm going to stop typing now because my mom is fixing to go too the store and she needs to know what I need to make my cookies...

Today is my Birthday, I took out my Christmas ham jester day and it feels frozen? It's pre-cooked. Would it be o.k. to defrost it in the microwave and how long? Its weight is about 15 pounds.
