Looking for a variation to that little ham/pickle/cream cheese roll ups appetizer recipe... has anyone added garlic powder or other seasonings to the cream cheese? I was just hoping to make them a little different for Thanksgiving - instead of the same old. I saw something about adding red/green food coloring to the cream cheese - which would be good for Christmas...but does anyone have any simple suggestions for jazzing this recipe up a little? Thanks in advance!!

I made mashed potatoes with a ricer, and they came out very lumpy/grainy. My mom has always used a ricer, and never has any problems. This has happened to me before, so this time I heated the milk and butter before I added them, but no luck. Do you know the cause, and any way to fix it?

I would really like to get a Brazilian style that uses garlic and is cooked on a BBQ or over an open flame.

I want to spice up my boring organic spaghetti sauce that has been sitting in the fridge for sometime now. I want to add some things...here is what I was thinking:

-Oregano
-Garlic Pepper
-Season Salt
-A pasta seasoning
-Celery Salt

Any other ideas? Do you think those spices would be good? Thanks!

Last minute shopper here... but I finally did purchase a turkey and since I couldn't afford to buy a "fresh" one, I had no choice but to buy a frozen one. What is the quickest and safest way to defrost this turkey? Thank you!

my recipe calls for a food processor to combine flour & butter/shortning together. I don't own one. Can I use a mixer or should I hand mix? If hand mix, how?

I'm baking pumpkin pies and the crust edges keep burning. I've read that I should put aluminum foil on the edges, but I'm not exactly sure how. Is it for a certain amount of time, like the whole cooking time, last 30 minutes, last 15 minutes or what. The pie bakes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 40-50 more minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And it is store-bought crusts.

if you make mashed potatoes, can you substitute the butter with bacon grease (I'm plannning to use some bacon bits in mine).

Is it alright to add things like rosemary or thyme or stuff like that?

and are there any little twists that you can do to your mashed potatoes to give it some extra spazz or flavor or something like that?

thanks

I have an 18lb turkey and I would like to find a good recipe online. My problem is that the biggest turkey recipe I can find is for a 14lb turkey. Can I just extend the baketime and I will be fine? I don't plan on going off of the oven temperature on the recipe, I will read the instructions on the turkey. Thanks for your help!

How long in the microwave per potato. They are medium-large sized potatoes. Is this okay to do when my end result is to make twice baked. I know all the steps to make a twice baked potato, but would rather cook potato in the microwave because I need the oven. Thanks.

I'm making some appetizers for thanksgiving and I have a really yummy artichoke dip recipe. The problem is I think it needs a bit more spice and I can't decide what spices to use. Right now the recipe is just marinated artichoke hearts, cream cheese, parmeson cheese, mayonaise, and garlic. I was thinking about maybe adding paprika, but I wanted to ask some people who know a bit more about seasonings than I do. (I'm only 16) So if any one has any ideas of a good seasoning or ingredient to add I would really appreciate it.

Am going to eat Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow with my guy's family....have never met them before and I freakin' volunteered to bring a side! I thought of things that will be easy...so I can't possibly mess it up and embarass myself.....but then that could look bad, too...like I didn't really try. Ideas on what to make? Mashed potatos and green bean casserole are not an option since someone else is already bringing those.....I kinda was thinking about something simple and common....but with with a spin on it...like I can make really good home made mac and cheese using....but my guy seems to be turning his nose up at it.....or cream corn....where I put frozen corn in the crock pot...add some pepper...some garlic powder...a stick of butter and a block of cream cheese....help?

I was making my pumpkin pies, and I added the evaporated milk. After I had added about half of a cup, I realized that it had expired 5 months ago. That was the last thing I had added. Do I have to throw that batch out and make a new batch? Will that little bit make people sick if I made it into pies? That was 2 pies worth of mix. Help me please!?
