Hey, hold on! We're talkin' turkey here! Poultry! Salmonella! Covered or uncovered? Stuffed or unstuffed? Are you sure it's thawed inside as well as out? What you gonna set your oven at? How does your oven cook? They don't always cook at the temp they say they do..as a matter of fact, after 45 years, I have found that few of them do!! After you have all that, then you can get to how long per pound...K?
325 degrees, 20 mins per pound (adjust your oven according to how it cooks) Keep in mind, a stuffed bird will take a tad longer as the cavity is filled with stuffing not heat! You may want to cover the bird with foil for awhile, this prevents it from drying out and enhances cooking time (especially if its a big bird). It doesn't take long for a turkey to brown up 45 min to 1 hr. I have had meat thermometers fail and the pop-ups fail..one of the best, old fashioned means of detecting the "doneness" (is that a word? lol) of a turkey, that has not failed me in all these years is twisting a drumstick. The bone will twist out with ease...no tugging or pulling. The meat will be done and delicious. Sorry this wasn't as easy as you wanted but I'd rather y'all not get sick. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Approx 20 minutes per pound. Or you can insert a temperature probe and cook to 160-170 degrees. But that means it is safe to eat and all bacteria present should be gone (that's a nasty thought). But the turkey is not necessarily the most tender at this temperature. Here is the way I prepare my turkey. It is not a pretty turkey but a good tasting turkey.
Cook it in a turkey bag, with the breast down. That way the dries of the turkey meat is sitting in the juices. Cook 20 minutes per pound at about 325 to 350. Turn the temperature down to 250 anhd let it cook more.(it is safe at this temperature for a long time) I put my turkey on about midnight on Wednesday night and cook all night at 325 and when I wake up early Thursday I turn it down to 250 and just leave it there until we are ready to pour off the broth for the dressing and gravy. Always moist and juicy and tender.

while you could certainly use your favorite web search engine to find out, most cooks I read talk about cooking until a particular internal temperature is reached, rather than length of time. That is because one cannot really use a time to accurately measure - it depends on how often the oven door is opened for basting, what other food is cooking, whether the bird is fresh or frozen, etc.
I suspect that the best thing to do is to find an online recipe source that you trust and follow their instructions...
