Looking for a variation to that little ham/pickle/cream cheese roll ups appetizer recipe... has anyone added garlic powder or other seasonings to the cream cheese? I was just hoping to make them a little different for Thanksgiving - instead of the same old. I saw something about adding red/green food coloring to the cream cheese - which would be good for Christmas...but does anyone have any simple suggestions for jazzing this recipe up a little? Thanks in advance!!

I would whip the cream cheese with a bit of garlic powder and cayenne pepper for a bit of extra flavor. I never thought of adding anything, great idea! You could also try whipping it with either fresh chives or some green onions.
A packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dip, or some mustard, would probably be a nice touch as well. I would just toy around with different flavor combinations to see what suits you best.

I know this is 8 years late but add cheese and make them sticks! Thats how I make them! I get the dill stackers, cream cheese, ham and a block of cheese. (I like cheddar my husband likes pepper jack so I always do both) you cut the stackers into long strips, do the same with the cheese then roll them together in ham with cream cheese and leave them in stick form to eat. Theyre so good! You can make the strips as thick or thin as you like depending on what flavor you want most prominent. Still time consuming too make but worth it! Delicious!

Mix the cream cheese with gorgonzola or feta, or mix in some dill weed.

You can also zip up the cream cheese by adding Mrs. Dash classic or some liquid smoke. Even some baco bits in the cream cheese would be good with the ham.

Use dill pickle or pieces of pickled okra
Pieces of pickled corn are also good

I use roast beef instead of ham, and Philadelphia onion and chive whipped cream cheese, and little sweet gherkins. The combination of savory and sweet it great.
