Thanks to "ya'll" for responding...some fun ideas there! The grits I'm making will be plain "Southern Style". Then, I'll get into more of the "flavored" venue. Maybe something like grits with apple & cinnimon

I used two well known cookbooks, but the yellow cake was so insanely bland. Any suggestions on where to look for something that is good?

I've melted sugar into caramel and drizzled it over a stainless steel bowl in a lattice pattern. I now have my "bowl" shape, however I can't get the caramel to release from the bowl. I've tried non-sitck spray. I've tried putting the bowl in the freezer as well as other ideas, but the caramel simply sticks and won't let go. Does anyone have any tips?

I have never cooked with wine before. I was hoping someone could help me pick out a dry white wine to cook the sauce with. Below is the list of ingredients. Thank you so much for any suggestions!

INGREDIENTS
3 (5 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, pounded 1/3 inch thick
all-purpose flour for dredging
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup chopped hazelnuts
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup dry white wine
6 large mushrooms, quartered
3 ounces prosciutto, shredded

1 cup heavy whipping cream

I ate this as a child in an Oklahoma grammar school a long time ago and I miss it. It was served with buttermilk biscuits.

I have a cake recipe that is really good, but I am wondering if I can replace the shortening it calls for with butter or margarine and replace perhaps 2 or 3 whole eggs for the 5 egg whites it calls for. It is a marachino cherry cake. I thought perhaps it would not be so heavy if I used butter or margarine.

I'm cooking pasta and sauteeing garlic, oregano, basil, and crushed red pepper. I normally add parmesan cheese to it, but I don't have any. Do you think shredded Swiss cheese would be good in it? Or should I just leave the cheese out this time....
