I live in Guam and about two weeks ago we had a huge typhoon warning and a tsunomie warning, (it turned at the last minute so we didnt get hit) but i realized that for my small familly of three and three dogs we had nothing but water and a few things in our pantry to be prepared with. So i went to the commisary (military grocerie store) and bought some non perishable foods, some flashlights and candels and then waited in line for almost two hours as it was rapped literally all the way around the store. My husbands commander did a phone "recall" telling us to stock up on food and fill up on gas as well. So we waited in another line that was like 2-3 blocks long. It was absolutley crazy, so the next time we get a warning i want to be already prepared. Any suggestions?

I have nothing to heat up food at work with...so i was wondering if I could eat uncooked spaghettios. Or if there was something really wrong with doing that? I've heard Ramen Noddles are super bad for you to eat uncooked...sooo what about O's ?

I am making a cookie that calls for one pound of powdered sugar and I don't know what a pound is equal too. I don't have the bag because I store it in a sealed containter to keep it fresh, and I can't find any other measurements that will help me, if you could point to me a place where I can find it, or if you know that would help out. Thanks!

If so, please describe what they taste like and what makes them so fabulous (other than the price). I fear I will never have them and would like to know what they are like. Could you share too where you have had them?

The recipe I used called for too much better and its all i seem to taste. I know I can start over but I hate the idea of wasting my couple batches of it. Is there something I can add to an already finished batch of buttercream to limit the butterflavoring....

Just an idea I had this afternoon since I was making a miso soup as first course for my clients, if this would be a nice touch or "over the top" in a bad way for a broth. I know likely it would be added at the very end in a hot broth so as not to cook the caviar. Hmm, thinking of that, would it do for a cold soup also? What kind would you suggest?

We're having a Mother's Day Banquet at our Church and I'm in charge of food. I love to cook and am no slouch in the kitchen, but I was hoping for some help with recipes and ideas.

I'd like to have one chicken, one beef, and one really kick-em'-in-the-mouth desert. I'm probably going to go with a mixed vegetable and a starch of some kind (kinda depends on the rest of the recipe).

Now, some prerequisites. We're on a budget, so nothing like "lobster cream in a white wine sauce". Also, it has to be "normal" spices. If I can't buy it at a grocery store, I don't want it.

Lastly, pre-making stuff is an option, if it can keep fresh. But I will have about 2 hours to actually cook everything (though I will have helpers).

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone have a TRIED AND TRUE recipe for spaetzle? My great grandmother used to make them all the time (she used a metal colander) but she must have taken her recipe to the grave with her because neither my mom nor grandmother have the recipe. Can anyone help?
