My fiance is catholic (though not very deeply into it) and I am so very not. I do not want to have a catholic wedding (stand, kneel, stand, kneel...). But his mother will have a fit if he's not married by the church. How do I get out of having the long catholic wedding.. but still be married by the church?

My partner has to make a father of the bride speech. The problem is that he raised his daughter on his own - mum left when she was 4, so the usual speeches i.e my wife and I etc. are not really appropriate. Her mum will be at the wedding but mum and dad have not spoken for some years.
Any suggestions

I'm thinking about trying on this dress. However, in order to do that, I'll have to travel about 2 hours away. It is the closest bridal shop that carries it. I'm wondering what people think of the dress. I'm 5'3 and 150 pounds. Could I pull something like this off. I'm trying to lose weight. But, as of right now I'm going by my current weight. I don't want to buy a dress in a smaller size that will not flatter me.

Here's the dress:

My parents have been married 36 years. I'm getting married in October. I keep asking them things about their wedding, but they don't remember...
their first dance song, the food, father/daughter dance, favors, details about the ceremony, etc.

Is your wedding day really so overwhelming you don't remember those details? Do I really need to concentrate on my wedding day so I'll remember it? Or should I just not worry too much about details now because I probably won't remember those things?

I know love can come from any where around the corner(In this case, the world) ,but many people marry people near by.But would any of you marry someone from a different country of the world?Personally,I don't believe in segregated marriage,I think love can happen between any 2 people from any where with different backgrounds and religion as long they're from the same planet, but I'm wondering if any of you feel the same way.It also gets everybody closer.So....What's your opinion...Thanks for the answer!

I'm in the process of planning my spring 2008 wedding and our budget is $5000. I have broken it down into categories and am pretty sure we can swing it within our means, but I just would like to know if anyone else has successfully pulled off a simple wedding with about 100 guests, minimal decorations, homemade food with no catering, homemade cake, and a DJ'd reception within the $5000 price range. I'm very thrifty, so I know my gown will be as inexpensive as possible, and my 'maids are paying for their own stuff. Any feedback from anyone who has pulled this off is appreciated!

In the movies you always see the man giving the woman the ring, but what about his ring? Does he buy this too, or is it the woman's purchase?

My fiance and I are getting married July 2008. We were looking at reasonable sites for both the ceremony and reception. But everywhere we looked was just blah and expensive. But, we found a boat that we can charter. Being a california girl I love the beach. But my family from cali has seen a million beach weddings. So this is like a beach but in my eyes it is even better because it is not done as often. Is this a good idea or is a boat wedding just too much trouble?

Planning a wedding makes me feel so poor! I mean, who has $400 to spend on invitations!?! That's insane! And $2,500 for four measly hours of photography! It's like sticker shock at every turn! Is anyone else just SHOCKED by how much all this stuff costs? My budget is about 10 thousand (not including the honeymoon or rehearsal or rings or anything...just ceremony and recepetion) and I feel like I have to cut corners and be cheap to stay on budget (I am making my own invitations and floral arrangements to save $). It's just ridiculous how much weddings cost! I know Im not poor but this industry sure does a good job of making me feel like Im being cheap. Am I the only one?

And my wedding is local for most people. My cater told me to average that 20% will not be able to come. If everyone has to travel- buy plane ticket, rent a hotel ECT... how many people do you think will not come. Plus most of these people are old college friends and 3rd cousins. (Yes, it's my crazy friend :)
She inviting 125 people (just her not including the groom) but almost 100 people has to travel to get there. What is your educated guess on how many people will really show?

on "number of this marriage" I don't know what to put. You see, when I was (17) I was married for (3) months before the marriage was annulled. My father was very abusive so my mother signed for me to get married so I could "get out of the house". The problem is I have never told my fiance about it. It was something I was very embarrassed by and have spent my life "forgetting" about it. No one knows about it but my immediate family. My children don't know, my best friend doesn't know, etc. etc. When we met we did the whole "getting to know you question and answer session" but you don't tell everything about yourself right away. He had a child that died at birth that I never knew about until I found some old baby clothes in the attic. I want my marriage to be legal so if I lie about it on the marriage license will anyone ever find out or will it matter? I don't know what to do but it's really messing me up inside. I never meant to lie but it was like it never really happened

I was thinking just the wedding party at the beach for the ceremony, then going somewhere close by for the reception with all the guests there. Would that be an okay thing to do?

My fiance & I are planning a May or Early June outside wedding and I was thinking that since his dad has passed we should have our wedding at the same location his parents did. We have decided to use his parents wedding bands as well, to keep his memory alive. Does it matter what type of dress I choose? Even if I choose a simple yet fancy, if that makes sense, wedding dress can my BM just wear simple dresses & if FH wears a tux ( a champagne one matches my dress) can the GM just wear khaki's & shirt? Should everyone stick with dresses/suits that match my dress? HELP please.

My fiance broke it all off recently... my friends say it is because he is going away to the marines... but why would he lie to me and talk about marriage and tell me if he loved me if he would just end up breaking it off? I know at the point we were at, we had arguments, but nothing serious... i dont understand what i did, if anything, to make him change his mind??

I received this lame email from them that they are so sorry that all data is lost. They've offered me a 20% discount at a wedding favors store. Why do they think that this replaces all of the countless hours I spent on my wedding site? I've been working on my site for almost a year and now every photo, every link, all text is completely gone. I am so upset!

This is their fault as they had a problem with their server or something. I think they should've had this information backed up!

Has anyone else had this problem with them?
