My fiance's grandmother said she will not be attending our wedding if I get a wedding band. She is from east coast, old money, and says its classless for men to wear wedding bands. Has anyone ever heard of this?

THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I AM PLANNING TO DO - JUST A QUESTION!!! I have never seen this, everyone talks about not wearing white, cream or ivory as a guest, but in the UK this is not viewed so seriously, everyone invited knows who the bride and groom are, I just don't see how anyone could confuse a guest with the bride.

This might seem like too early to ask the question, but it takes me forever to find dresses that fit, soo here we go.

My boyfriend's brother is getting married on September 29, and I'm going with him. It's going to be an evening wedding (around 5) followed by a reception. I don't know what to wear to it, as it's going to be very formal and very elegant. I'm not skiny (size 12), but I do like wearing dresses, and I'm assuming that would be something good to wear to this. I just don't know what colors or styles to wear. I'm not sure where it is being held, but I think the ceremony is in a church.

I don't want anything that will offend my boyfriend's relatives (especially since I'll be sitting with his parents and his other brother's girlfriend since both brothers are in the wedding party), but I also want to look good. Any ideas?

I just got married this past Sunday. My wife and I invited our old college room mate whom we were very close. We graduated college a few years ago and invited her and her fiance to our wedding. We all live in New York and our wedding was in Newport, RI. They said they were coming and we included them in our final count. Then a week before the wedding she called and said her fiance was overseas and they would not be coming to the wedding. We asked if she could come and she said no because he is not around and she doesn't feel comfortable driving that far alone. The thing is, we all went to college together up there. We are hurt and got screwed financially by them not coming up. Their wedding is next month at Tavern on the Green in Manhattan. Should we go or screw them over?

Hello All & Good Morning!

I am going to my Uncle's wedding and my sister is loaning me a dress to wear to it. This dress is very classy and dressy, but I don't know if the colors are appropriate. It is solid black with a champange colored bow going around it. On the front of the bow, there is a circle with rhinestones going around it. It has a pettycoat going around the bottom underneath to make the dress look full. It goes to my knees and is halter. Tell me. Is this appropriate?

Okay so my best friend is a guy. I love my big sis and she would be upset if it wasn't her, but I have three sisters and I don't want any of them to feel less important. I know it is different, but do you think it is okay? He is my best friend and has been there for me always.

Okay-wedding is Sept 29 this year.
Both wedding & reception are being held "outdoors" @ my parents farm.
WE are doing all food ourselves & not having a caterer.
Since we're not catering & will not have 'servers', we're setting it up "Family Buffet" style. My fiance & I want to go for good "comfort/downhome cooking" foods, but we have to keep the preparation manageable.
We've come up with:
Main Items: Ham, Roasted Turkey Breast
Hot Sides: Old Fashion Green Beans w/bacon & onion
Sweet Potatoes (Family favorite)
Cheesy Potatoes (Family favorite)
* Not scalloped,
uses hashbrowns, red/grn pepper, onion,
sour cream & cheese-YUM!
Cold Sides: Macaroni Salad (His mom makes the BEST!)
Tossed Salad w/FRESH greens
Dinner rolls

My parents are divorced, and I haven't seen or talked to my dad in over a decade. My mom is walking me down to the aisle at my wedding. Would my fiance and I just cut out the dancing with the parents portion of the reception, or how could that work?

I plan on just giving money rather than buying a gift. Thanks.

Oh yes, another similar question....our neighbors are finally getting married. We aren't invited to a wedding, but I'd still like to give them something, how much do you think is appropriate? Thanks!

My future sister-in-law is a great girl and my twin sister is going to be my maid of honor, so I don't want to hurt her feelings by not including her in the wedding. But I also have 5 friends that I want as bridesmaids and that my twin sister is also friends with. My fiance's sister doesn't even know any of my friends and she may just feel out of place... Is it customary to ask your fiancee's sibling to stand in the wedding?? I certainly don't have anything against her, but I find it hard to leave out any of my close friends as bridesmaids. Thanks!

We originally planned on a park wedding with all of our family (100+ people). We can't afford to have a big wedding and honeymoon and the honeymoon is really important. Plus the idea of having a big wedding is stressing me out as I really never envisioned a big fancy wedding. My groom and I agree that it would be wonderful to get married on the beach and then relax for a week before going back to our hectic lives. I don't want to hurt her feelings but it is our day and our choice. How do I present this without offending her?

Ok my Mom and I have always been super close, dad was abusive and so we grew to rely on eachother.
I'm living away from home, it's been two years and I'm living with my fiancee.
Background:
Fiancee: Hes 5 years older then me, has his bachelors in Biology, and is going for his masters in education. Hes very level headed-emotionally- and we have this same random odd sense of humor. Hes sweet and I've never been happier in my life.
Me: I'm 20, I work as a Teachers Assistant at an elementary school. I've made bad relationship choices in the past...real losers...trust me. I'm a very individual person.

Mom is very unhappy I'm getting married so young, I can understand some of her fears. I'm afraid she is linking my relationship with my fiancee with her and my fathers which ended badly.

I'm so used to her being there for me that it's hard for me to deal with her not supporting me. I'm an adult and am still going to get married because I'm happier then ever.

Advice for me & mom

It is my 2nd marriage and my husbands 1st. We got married on 1/1/07 and then bought a house together. We are planning a wedding reception on July 28th and a house warming party. The reception will be in the back yard and very casual. What kind of invites should I get? And how to word it cute for guest to bring their own lawn chair and maybe their own drink if they dont want Coors Light/Soda/Water...????
