Like someone that she works with? And they are not "rich".

It's not weird. They did give you a generous gift, though. They probably think a lot of your wife. Are you worried there is "something" there? There isn't. The person would have given her something in private.

It depends on how long your wife has been friends with person (I'm assuming it's a male friend). Were they friends before you met? To be honest I was uncomfortable when and ex girlfriend of my husband gave us a wedding gift and she wasn't even invited. I guess it depends on how much you trust your wife. If you trust her then don't have a problem with it. I think if there were something going on which I'm getting the feeling that's what your thinking he wouldn't spend $300.00 on a gift I think it would be less because he would be miffed. Maybe he's just happy for her and wants to give a generous gift. I hope you will feel better with this soon.

It is a little odd. That much money is usually reserved for family. You say they are not rich, but they may be more well off than you think. In addition, some people just grow up giving a certain set amount. Usually people give $100 per person. Did she have a date with her, maybe she thought $150 per person was a standard amount.

No, not really. For some people when someone they know is getting married it is as exciting for them as it is for the person getting married. So they probably just wanted to get you a nice gift to start your new life together and something you will always remember them by.

Depends on the present if it isn't something kinky then I can't see a problem. Apparently people associate weddings with big gifts

I think if this person is a good friend of your wife's then it's not weird. Maybe she just found the perfect gift and really wanted to get it for you. =0)

Not if she bought the $300 gift for $100 on sale or re-gifted it!

These days $300.00, though quite generous for one person, is not an outrageous wedding gift. It's not weird, and I wouldn't make anything of it.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Maybe they got a great deal.

She must be well liked. Money is relevant to your financial status. He may be very comfortable with his financial situation
And how do you know the value of the gift?
