My boyfriend and I have been dating around 4 years (I was 20 when we started dating, he was 22) and I am 99% sure we will be getting engaged this summer (he's ordered the ring and can't keep his mouth shut, obviously!).
We have already talked about when we would like to get married and will probably wait until August 2008. Depending on when we get engaged, that will be about 12-15 months of engagement.
As for kids, I am 24 now and my boyfriend is 26 and he wants to wait until he is at least 30 before starting a family. So that would about 3 years after we get married.

The engagment was eight months long, we dated for a year and a half before he proposed. We plan on waiting two to three years before children.

Let's see we were engaged after a year and 9months of dating.
Then we got married another year and 10 months later... Then our baby was born exactly 40 weeks after our wedding date!
So we took it really slow... until it came to children! Now our first baby is 1 and our 2nd is on the way. :) Talk about fast!? Don't regret any of it for even a second though.

We were friends for 4 years. We dated 8 months, were engaged 6 months before our wedding. Wanted kids right away, have a baby on the way which our doctor reports was brought back from the honeymoon!

My fiance and I dated 16 years before getting "officially" engaged - but we started dating at age 13. And during college and for a while after we were dealing with some health problems (I had cancer, and later a serious knee injury). In 8th grade, we betrothed ourselves to each other - so you can count that as an engagement, if you'd like.
We will have been "officially" engaged for a year and a half before getting married.
We are going to wait 2 years before having children.
What an interesting question! I can't wait to see what everyone else answers! Thanks!

We did everything backwards.
Dated for 1 year, had kids, THEN moved in together (we were teenagers), 11 years later we got married after a 3 month "engagement". We've been together for almost 15 years and are very happy.

We were friends for a year before we dated,
we dated for a year and a half before he proposed,
we'll be engaged for 14 months before we're married,
and we'll be waiting about 5 years before we have kids (He's going to be attending seminary for 5 years or so, so we want him to graduate before we bring a baby home so he'll have time to help me take care of him/her)

We got engaged a day before our year anniversary. Our engagement will be about a year and a half long. As for the kids part - who knows? He already has one, and I'm certainly in no real hurry to have one.
